Play Clark he gets open. He is our Wes PLAY HIM Play Bris he gets open and is a threat to take it to the house each time he touches the ball. Play Ash and play our TE's they are both talented.

Broyld, Estime, Clark and Funderburk are my picks. On the field... At the same time. Matchup nightmares. I'd keep Smith in the backfield to keep the LB's honest to an extent.

That would be fun to see.

Ok, great talk.

Based on the two deep for this game: WR's - three player rotation West and Kobena starting, Clark behind them both. H-Back Broyld and Estime.

They haven't replaced Fleming in the two deep, just shortened the rotation, officially. Next two games should establish the pecking order behind the first three WR's.

That's a good group of 5, with Funderburk potentially getting more run as the 6th. If that core continues to produce, then WR will be better than many expected / hoped heading into the season.

Go...I still think most of the problems on offense start with our rookie OC. It's been difficult to discern any rhyme or reason (i.e. identity) to the personnel packages or play calling thus far. GM needs to simplify the game plan and turn his players loose.

As others have said, the schedule really sucks for a new staff and OTJ training purposes. Hopefully both coordinators can learn enough over the next two weeks to be competitive in conference play.

I don't know if the WRs who play will make much of a difference if the game plan is continually WR screens, slant routes to the slot guy, other assorted short passes, an Oline that doesn't seem to block well yet, a running game that can't get going, a QB who gets too many passes tipped or picked off, and a pistol offense that just doesn't seem to fit. A little variety wouldn't hurt.

All that aside, with the WR/DB/RB play, it seems to me that the younger guys are more talented than the older guys, yet the staff is more willing to go with the older guys. Yes, I know this is a WR post, but if I never see a secondary with Wilkes-Lyn-Anderson again (seniors all), I won't be disappointed. For the WRs, Kobena (junior) can do one thing: go deep; Flemming is a senior with two career catches; West (senior) is a decent slot guy, but he's no number one receiver. You want talent and explosiveness, and it seems like the SU offense is running is slow motion.

I don't know how you say those guys get open when most of their catches are a 1 step throw to them and then making plays in space...

I think only Broyld has proven he can get open downfield.

Yeah, something tells me DBs aren't going to play so far off Clark in the future, like NW did. He'll need to beat his DB at the LOS.

Call me crazy but a guy like West should be your guy in the middle, running those crossing patterns and a guy like Funderburke should be able to get open with tight man coverage on shorter plays, I don't see many db's his size. IF Wales is out, West can make tough catches in traffic, don't like seeing him on go routes at all

I don't think we have a wr problem at all, we have a qb problem and an O Line that can't open holes to take the heat of that bad qb.
