Just read an article that said as of now the Big East has 7 members for football for the 2012 season, but is hopeful that one of the new members scheduled to join in 2013 might be able to start a year early.
The article also seemed to suggest that the BE is likely to let us go after the 2013 season because the Houston, Memphis, UCF, Boise State and San Diego State will all be set to join by 2013.
That would seem to me like a fair outcome. We stick around for 2013 to keep the conference from dipping to 5 teams and in exchange the BE grants an no cost out a year early. I'd rather start play in the ACC next season, but could live with the one more season option. We could be playing for the regular season championship for the third time in our last 4 years in the conference.
