The public is, to a person, still very bothered by the chemical spill and is very concerned about toxic chemicals being close to water sources. The government has failed to protect the public and the public knows it and is angered by it.  A few restaurants have gone out of business due to the total loss of revenue for weeks, many others are still feeling the effects of decreased business.  The water company literally passed on the charges for changing out their filters and flushing their lines to customers via surcharge approved by the government.  The chemical company has had ongoing failures to monitor and breaches of containment ponds and there is nothing the average Joe can do except not drink the water and vote those who did nothing out of office, which is a distinct possibility.
