Orange freshman retains title

Syracuse freshman Justyn Knight, who was the top rookie finisher at the ACC Championships in October, earned another title on Sunday, taking home the Canadian Cross Country Junior National Championship.

Knight successfully defended his title on the 8k course at Jericho Beach Park in Vancouver, British Columbia, while leading his club to the team title.

The Vaughan, Ontario native cruised to the overall crown by six seconds, completing the course in 26:25.

Knight is coming off a freshman season where he helped the Orange to a fifth place finish at the NCAA Championships – its highest finish since 1957 – as well as its fifth conference title in the last five seasons by repeating as ACC Champions. Syracuse finished the year ranked No. 2 in the USTFCCCA poll, its highest rank in the history of the poll.

Either that's a tough course or Knight was running nothing more than a workout. This kid could be the difference maker for next year's X-C team
