Yankees trade Gonzales German to Texas for CASH?

I don't ever recall a Yankee deal that just gave the Yankee's cash.Is this organization scratching for money? Now maybe there is an understanding for a future deal in the closet for now. It just seems odd.

Since he was probably just going to be stashed in Scranton, they got something for him in return.
