There was another big one I think in 2003 or '04. I worked 3rd shift at NPG in East Syracuse at the time. When I left work at 7 am there wasn't a flake falling. My house was about 25 miles away in Palermo. I got about 10 miles from my house and it was like a curtain dropped. I went from doing about 65 mph on a wet road to around 15-20 mph on a road where at times brushing against the snowbank is all that kept me from going off it. When I got to my driveway the bank was even with the bottom of my side window on my dakota and none of my neighbors had their driveways opened up yet. I pointed my truck at the driveway, floored it, and half jumped/half plowed through the bank. Momentum carried my truck about another 50 ft before it settled down and stopped. I went to bed and when I woke up that afternoon spent about 2-3 hours snowblowing with a 60in wide snowblower on the back of our tractor. I think we got about 5 ft that day too, and a little more the next day.

Was it 2006 when Oswego County got another big one? Not quite as much in one day, but I think a number of the schools were closed for almost a week (I know Mexico was) because they got about 10ft spread throughout the week. I missed the brunt of that one because I lived in Liverpool at the time.
