This is a great post. Agree with how we built the roster last year. Was also thinking the exact same thing about St. John's or Ga Tech or the like. It's an interesting group of players that clearly isn't ready and you hope to plant some seeds for the future and improve over the course of the year ... but ... Such a weird sight to see this team the past two seasons -- last year with so little athleticism for really the only time I can really remember in the JB era and this year where we are soooo young and, I would argue, still not overwhelmingly athletic. If we're trying to be positive: -- thought the m2m looked much better tonight. much better communication on screens and cutters, help wasn't great early but improved. -- Perhaps it's a lack of high-level starters, but we do at least have depth in a real way. -- Hima was active and could be OK as a backup to jesse. -- Brown and Taylor did some nice things in their minutes and Bell got a couple buckets close to the basket. -- Symir looks confident with his shot. Biggest concerns (and not the only ones): -- Tough rebounding night against a small team. We seemed to not get the rebound despite having two guys in position for the rebound on multiple occasions. -- The chances of Joe scoring 20 ppg and/or Edwards having a Rak-like senior season look remote. I like both but neither feels like an alpha that is going to be the team leader. -- Benny was active but his offense is likely going to be put-backs and fast breaks ... speaking of which ... -- how did we not get 6 or 7 more buckets in transition. Bell had one and we got some early opportunities with jesse, but with a young, athletic team, you'd really hope they at least ran the floor well. That wasn't really the case in either game. -- How many fumbled passes did we have? A ton of unforced errors in general. Not crazy for a young team, but not a good sign.
