It is literally a common sensical fact that in order to prevent stories and narratives from getting out of control you need to dictate the story. That usually involves providing a small piece of fact and surrounding it by a whole mess of nondescript garbage. Syracuse University has a track record, for whatever reason, of doing this really badly when athletes disappear.

But here's the thing. I don't care that the University hasnt released any more. I dont care that Zeed hasnt said more. Let the kid have his privacy and his future. But I just find it hilarious that no one else can agree that, in isolation, empty spaces tend to get filled with what people want to believe. From a purely philosophical standpoint. Doesn't mean there's a way to avoid it. But its a fact. Yet merely making that statement of human behavior infuriates people even though, pragmatically, I do understand that in this case there really want anything more to say and this was inevitable.
