Class of 2019 Ken Evans Jr.

I’d love to add him now that Dakota turned us down, but he’s from Mississippi and will probably ultimately stay in the south.
lampkin's from nearby Texas...and that southern connection might be nice
Let’s not get caught up in position semantics, he’s just Ken & he’s Kenough. His stats & highlights suggest that he’s great at doing stuff.
as much as I want a real PG...for once...lampkin and davis being really good passers kinda also lessens the need for a PG

part of the reason the team has suffered so much the last decade without a real PG is that the centers and forwards have been very poor with the ball

If Evans commits the only true PG on the roster will be Carlos. So SOMEBODY is going to have to also play minutes at the point - whether as the starter or the back-up.

Cuffe. 21 minutes of game time between turnovers last year - a steady handle.
Played every game last season. Fast with the ball and gets out on the break.

PG - Westry, Carlos
SG - JJ, Cuffe, Choppa
SF - Evans, Bell
PF - Donnie, Jyair
C - Lampkin, Naheem

That squad checks a lot of boxes.. shooting, athleticism, height, depth, experience. Let's make this happen.

Still need a bigger body PF who can step out and make a 3.

Did someone say bigger body??

Sign my up coach. I’ve got 4 years of eligibility, and an NIL deal with Tullys will do.

This is a pretty specific request. Tyler Lydons don’t grow on trees and are expensive these days. Plus we have Donnie.

If you're willing to look at 6-8, 230-240 guys who play in G5 leagues, there are probably 20 guys like that out there. I'm not looking for an NBA guy.

I'm looking for a hardworking guy who is big enough to bang bodies for 10-15 minutes and can step out and make a 3.

Or maybe your an a-hole. If you don’t like the info people provide don’t screw it up for the rest of us. Already had enough solid contributors stop posting over the last 15 years because of morons like you.
Probably should have said one of you is misinformed since they said opposite things. The liar thing was in jeste. Having said that what kind of a douchebag response was that?

Fair enough. Guess we’re both in the wrong.

And my wife would say, a pretty big one most of the time.

Here's who is still available who might be a fit:

Torched Omier - South Florida.
Ht:
6-7 Wt: 240
Omier is one of the most productive bigs in the country. He’s averaged a double-double all four seasons of his college career, averaging 17 points, 10 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game this past season. He is undersized but makes up for it with a long wingspan and a build that makes him look like a football player. He is perfect in a five-out offense, where he can shoot the 3 (35.3 percent this season) and put the ball on the floor. He can also score with his back to the basket, but he’s at his best facing up and attacking off the bounce. When he gets in close, his footwork and strength helps him get shots off clean. He can put his shoulder in the defender and create space. He also gets to the line, drawing 4.9 fouls per 40 minutes. He has good instincts when the ball is in the air, able to rebound outside of his area.

Igor Milicic - Charlotte
6-10, 225

A third-team all-AAC honoree this season, Miličić is about as multi-skilled of a college 4 as one can find at his level. His counting numbers — 12.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game — were depressed by Charlotte being one of the 10 slowest-paced teams in the country. He can play with or without the ball, as Charlotte used him in all sorts of perimeter actions as either the screener and/or the ballhandler. He can run off screens to shoot from distance, or he can instinctively cut backdoor for easy shots at the rim. Overall, Miličić drilled 147 3s at a 38.1 percent clip, firing effectively in spot-up situations, off direct actions and when relocating off the bounce when opponents closed out. Put it all together, and Miličić is an exceedingly smart, mobile, skilled offensive big.

Kasean Pryor - South Florida
Ht: 6-10. Wt: 210

Pryor played a big role in South Florida winning the American. The Bulls were 2-4 when Amir Abdur-Rahim inserted Pryor into the starting lineup and went to a five-out attack. South Florida won 21 of its next 22 games. Pryor can make some wild decisions, but his talent is real. He handles the ball so well that South Florida would even have him bring the ball up the floor and occasionally set a ball screen for him. He is one of the fastest players his size in the country, and he uses his speed to his advantage when he pulls more traditional bigs out onto the perimeter. His shot looks legit, and he made 35.2 percent of his 3s this season. Because he’s such a tough matchup and plays so aggressively with the ball in his hands, he had a high free-throw rate (50.2) and made 81.4 percent of his free throws at USF.

If you asked any of those guys to play for your team getting 10-15 minutes a game they would laugh in your face. That's not even mentioning the fact that they will all command big money.

This article says Syracuse is showing interest in Ken Evans Jr. ...

Cuse2023 and OrangXtreme.
I think you can connect the dots that the staff has contacted Evans Jr (all the social media interaction with the Cuse players, mutual followings of Evans with Cuse players and staff on IG) but it hasn’t been announced publicly that we contacted so thats the argument

Notable games:

25 and 10 5-7 from 3 against Gonzaga.

23 and 5-7 from 3 against Northwestern.

18 and 9 against Memphis.

20, 4 and 4 against Georgetown.

He had a rough game vs Houston shooting 3-9 with 6 points and 6 turnovers, but a lot of good players struggled against their defense.

He’s a great rebounder for a guard at 5.4 per game which we need with Bell at the 3.

I know people will point to his rough defensive metrics, but playing with weaker players probably doesn’t help him much there. There’s a lot to like with this potential pick up. He played better against good competition than Leffew did

If you get one of these guys - among the best remaining in the portal - they are not those 10-15 minute guys, you're right. These guys will require 20-25 minutes a game, but it's all a competition, and if we rotate, they all get their minutes.

We do not have a stretch big. If we can get one, that is a different skill set from MacLeod, Lampkin, and even Freeman a bit, because you want him to start his career by establishing himself inside. You don't want him floating at the 3 point line as a new player, like Donte Greene did.

We need another guard and another rim protector way more than a stretch 4.
