2022 Yankees Season

This team is too reliant on the home run. :p

I think it's safe to exhale now. Ideally the Rays and Jays will split that series.

Rays and Jays play each other 8 more times this season. Rays also have 6 against the Astros.

Yanks win those last 2 easily and all the pieces are coming back.

I think the storm has been weathered.

Catching the Astros (6 back in 20 games) is doubtful and an unfortunate casualty of the slide.

Yes. That last horse is out of the barn, but winning the division and having a top-two record in the AL is someplace they haven't been in awhile.

Get many of the pieces back, already have some guys with more confidence at the plate, and this could be a fun playoff run.

Are Carpenter and Benintendi still possibilities to join in that fun? Assume both are long shots at this point. But everyone else (other than King and Chad Green) will be back?

Yes, getting people back and being able to field lineups similar to what they had in the first half would be great.

Although he isn't likely to make it back, what Carpenter brought to the team was really remarkable. Essentially, his offensive production mirrored what Judge has done across a full season, which is crazy. But perhaps Stanton can still bring some of that production and protection for Judge if he can get it back. It's in him somewhere because we've seen it at times.

Aaron Boone said he didn’t have a timetable for when any of them would return, but added that he heard Chapman and Britton each looked good. He didn’t mention Castro.

Carpenter still hasn't resumed baseball activities, getting more tests within 10 days.

Benintendi had surgery to remove the hamate bone. He could return by the end of the month.

If Stanton can knock a few more HRs before the end of the season, it will be the first time the Yankees have had three players with 30 or more HRs in a season since 2005.

Injury / rehab updates:

Anthony Rizzo said he’s targeting returning in one of the next two series. Won’t play in Boston.

Zack Britton will pitch Wednesday for the RailRiders.

Chasen Shreve is here in Scranton.

Aroldis Chapman is rehabbing in Somerset today.

Stephen Ridings, on the IL all season, is throwing live BP at Somerset now. Albert Abreu was out in right field throwing earlier.

Tyler Wade just walked into the Yankees clubhouse at Fenway. He’s here for taxi squad, not active tonight.
