2023 Yankees Season

The Yankees are in dire need of upgrading the following this off-season:

Catcher
Third Base
Left Field
Center Field

Perhaps 1B as well.

What do you prioritize?

LF? I concur. Why didn't they keep Benintendi?

They tried to sign him but he wanted 5 years and the Yankees wouldn’t go past 4.

Fair enough, but the alternative they chose certainly hasn't been better.

The Yankees apply a strict fiscal discipline when signing free agents. They only overpay for players whose best years are in the past or who have a history of injury problems. Similarly, when making trades, they are laser focused on giving up prospects and taking on the bloated salaries of players past their prime. Essentially, their strategy is to get the least value for every dollar spent, a discipline from which they hardly ever deviate.

He's not exactly tearing it up with the White Sox. He's essentially a singles hitter now. Not sure four or five years of that, with a likely decline, would have been the answer for this team.

Fair enough, but how is the current path - and everything since he left, which has been a revolving door - any better?

They also have a fetish for pitchers coming off significant surgeries, or with soon-to-be diagnosed ailments: Kluber, Taillon, Rodon, Montas, Effros, Pineda, and Britton come to mind.

The current path isn't great, but running with some mediocre homegrown talent wouldn't be much worse than what that guy would give you on a long-term deal. And who knows, you could catch lightning in bottle.

Speaking as a former coach, the only time I'm interested in catching lightning in a bottle is in the playoffs. :)

Boone is never going to say anything remotely close to being viewed as negative or controversial towards his players. It's nauseating.
After the Yankees can him Booney should get the gig in the O's broadcast booth.
