2024 Offensive Line

And why is it your concern, given what I stated above?
Because I believe they had no reason to go soft at the initial point of attack.

Meh.

When the game started, I was initially quite impressed by how the OL hold up and maintained a pocket, giving McCord time to throw.

Then, they mentioned that Fran Brown had implemented a no sack / no big hit rule for the spring game.

With no real, live pass rush, the DL is at a distinct disadvantage from the jump. To say nothing of how defenses use things like stunts, blitzes, etc. to bring pressure from unusual angles and throw the timing / rhythm of the OL off.

Also keep in mind that in spring games, both sides of the ball tend to use base formations, and not show too much / open the playbook up with trickery.

And if the OL can really hold up at the point of attack and open up holes [for the first time in forever] -- cool.

We are going to have multiple transfers in the interior DL who are 300 pounders, and athletic. No need to worry.

I was watching our edge guy and he would swim move past an OL to free up and would immediately slow up once past the OL.

We cant just put big heavy guys in the middle and expect all is good. Those guys have to be able to get off the ball and move. There are way too many schemes that will destroy big slow guys. Transition to DL is not simple. New techniques need to be learned and mastered.

You mean there’s more to football than being big? And skill and technique are needed? Shocking.. In all seriousness, I don’t know how some who watch football week in week out can’t comprehend it.

Side note from the OP, but I noticed this too. Grant looked good, as did Bellamy (surprised me). But Zeed was getting a step on both of them. Upper tier ACC teams are going to have WR's with speed. So this could be an issue. Hopefully someone emerges among (Jan. enrollees) Haile, Long and Barnes, (transfer) Lewis from ND and McDaniel in July.
Exactly. Went by them and slowed down a touch for throw.

Exactly what i saw.

I’m still concerned a bit about pass pro at tackle. Particularly I didn’t like Enrique Cruz getting beat 1 v 1 against both Diggs and King Joseph Edwards for sacks. Especially with the stated restrictions that were in place for the D. I feel like our LT needs to show better than that if we are going to be in the top half of the ACC. He got beat bad by both. was hoping to see a jump from him in 2024 but the spring game gave me the opposite feels. Glad we are at least adding Savion Washington into the OT mix but he played RT.

Anyone hear anything about how Wohlabaugh’s recovery is going?

Won’t be surprised to see Enrique potentially shift inside or be passed by Josh Miller in fall camp

Think Josh mentioned in Sam Holland's pod that he thought he would be playing on D when he got here but he and the staff saw a greater need and opportuity on the O line. Wonder if this was being considered since More was seeing a lot of time at C before getting hurt?
My opinion is that Ilaoa is just too small to play OL at the P4 level. The new staff realized this and knew they needed another option at C in case Reed goes down.

I am sure we will see one of the remaining OL spend some time during the summer and into preseason getting work at center. I know Wohlabaugh played some center in HS and with his family history, I would think this would be a good fit for him but I suspect he really wants to play OT.

Makes sense. They signed Savion Washington so he clearly will start at one of the tackle spots. Spoon probably the other.

I think it’ll be some combination of Spoon, Washington, Reed, Cruz, Miller

I could be completely wrong tho

Washington started the first 5 games at RT for CU last year and didn't give up a sack in any of those games. Those were against TCU, Nebraska, Colorado St, Oregon and USC. Not sure how much he played in the USC game before getting hurt though. Then he missed the next two complete games. I'm guessing he didn't play great after returning but was likely playing injured. Assuming he's healthy now I'm hoping he can man a starting spot. Deion was pretty high on him in this article below which was right before he returned from injury. Said he'd be a pro. Of course it was his head coach speaking about him so that should be factored in a bit. If he can be a solid Tackle for us it really could be an enormous factor on the success of our season.

CU Buffs notes: Coach Prime eager to get Savion Washington back in lineup
