Adam Weitsman has been cautious about NIL

It reminded me of your response to Frankie
As I went back and read it, I realized it was a response to both posters, Frankie and the poster Frankie replied to. Careless mistake on my part. My point was supposed to be that scrap metal is not cheap or worthless. There is a LOT of money it and guys like Weitsman not only pay a lot for it, they get a good profit when they sell it. So yeah, it is certainly possible to become very wealthy in that business. As far as increases in prices, I'll not argue that except to say I sell a lot of metal chips and solids and have a first hand idea of that.

According to estimates from ExactNetWorth.com, Weitsman has a total net worth of about $1.2 billion. The scrap metal and recycling company he founded brings in about $750 million in sales each year. According to Metal Recycling Market, the market for metal recycling like Upstate Shredding offers is projected to grow at a CAGR of 7.8 percent from 2020 to 2025 (from $52.1 billion in 2019 to $76.1 billion by 2025).

It depends on how rich the boosters are. Weitsman is rich compared to most of us but probably not compared to the richest boosters. There are certainly filthy rich boosters that have made excellent financial decisions to get where they are that will consistently throw money at 18-22 year olds to help their team win. To them it's no different than flying to Vegas to drop a bunch of cash at the casino. It's play money and the priority of their team winning trumps most other things. They're not looking at a financial ROI. We've already seen it with the facility wars. A chunk of that money will simply shift to the athletes. That's why it's easy to see which programs will be able to buy the best players.
He's rich compared to just about everyone.

I’m not sure about that.

Lol…the website name is hilarious…talk about something NEVER exact!

Have you seen metal costs these days?

Aluminum went up 40% in a year 2020-2021.

Scrap means he doesn't pay much of anything for it.

Hes as motivated as any celebrity businessman I've come across and once you have money it tends to become easier and easier to make more of it. Can't imagine he has done anything nefarious in decades if that is the implication and as you say feel free mods to delete for posting that last part.
Money is the only reason for his friendship with Coach B. Money buys anything...all these people kissin his. A because of $$$$

I hadn't looked it up before my first comment. He's certainly wealthier than I realized at a net worth of 1.2 billion. He's not Phil Knight, but he's plenty wealthy. It would be nice for SU if he decided to throw some away like boosters for other schools, but I don't blame him for not doing it.

Who did he bring to the game?

Was that RJ Barret and Quigley of the Knicks?

My guess is the the great Thanasis Antetokounmpo and his little brother Giannis.

Thanasty and the Greek Freak.

Yeah it's 100% them. Here's the photo that the silhouette came from:

His money allows him to be a significant booster for the S U basketball program and as a fan and not very significant booster myself I appreciate his support. If you choose to consider that as ass kissing, so be it.

Ok, clueless troll. His friendship with Coach B was based on money as they are two of the biggest philanthropists in Upstate New York. You have a choice going forward. Keep your ignorant mouth shut and have everyone thing you're a complete moron, or open it and prove them right.

not surprised who liked your post.

I appreciate this post, because I too am a significant philanthropist in upstate New York. I tried to keep it on the down low, but I recently donated $2 at Wendy's. I haven't even gotten one of the free Frosties that I am entitled to, because it's about the kids.

I know this info was pulled from a website. I can 100% confirm that the scrap business does no where near 750mm in sales each year. I have personally seen their financial statement and 750 is a MULTIPLE of their annual revenue. I will not share any other info on the financials than what I just said.
Now he does have many income streams, but really who cares how much the guy is worth. He likes Syracuse basketball, he brings good press to the team, and frankly anyone who complains or opines on his actual net worth is jealous.

Like the guy or dislike him whatever, so far he has only been a positive addition to Cuse basketball.

He’s brought some press (but of course, it’s mostly about himself) so I would call him a net zero when it comes to impacting SU basketball at this point. As for complaining about him? He’s had some very serious issues in the past both legally and personally that have affected quite a few people in the community. He is making amends for them which is admirable, but i would stop short of calling any hate toward him purely a result of jealousy.
