He is by all accounts a future starter for us. The staff and players all say good things about him. He played strong safety at a very high level in hs. Would like to see him get some run there.

In addition to Armstrong we might see Perkins and scoop move to db. Thomas would make a tough strong safety as well. We need some size and strength at the safety positions . Both of these kids can run and both can certainly support the run. Sure we give up speed but we instantly become a much more physical D

The difference between a 4.4 kid and a 4.7 kid is 0 when the 4.4 kid takes longer to read the play then takes a bad angle to make the play and the 4.7 kid anticipates reads the play quickly and takes the correct angle to make the play. There are athletic fast runners and then there are football players. End of story.

There is no way on God's green earth that they are putting kids that play and project at the LB position out at safety to cover actual D1 wide receivers.

Just ain't happening unless of course you want to see the 1st play of the LouisVille game on every play of the game from opponents.

Our actual kids starting at the safety position can't cover very well and you want to swap one of them out with a linebacker?!?!

Wow, just wow.

Keep in mind that the Tampa 2 places a premium on linebackers that can cover...none of the LB's on the roster were meant for this system with the exception of the freshman.

Great point, this is so often overlooked. 40 times mean nothing if you don't know how to play football. It's like a strong boxer who has slow hands.

We all realize that. The point was that he is by all accounts a very talented heady player who happened to play strong safety at a premiere HS extremely well and we are hurting at that position. We have depth at LB.
