Coaching Staff Update

I wanted to create a venn diagram showing all of the coaches and their past relationships, but it got too complicated.
Instead, I will just summarize their past coaching relationships.

Syracuse
Shafer, Daoust, Moore, (and Morrison) worked together at the same time.

Western Michigan
Shafer, McDonald, Lester, Bullough, Daoust, (and Morrison) worked together at the same time.

Northern Illinois
Shafer, McDonald, Smith, and Daoust worked together at the same time.

UCLA
Bullough and Lea worked together at the same time.

Other relationships and near misses:

Stanford
McDonald worked with Nathaniel Hackett at the same time.
Shafer was at Stanford after this time.

Illinois
McDonald played there.
Shafer and Smith coached there, but all at different times.

Cleveland Browns
McDonald and Bullough both worked for the Browns, but one year apart.

Discover the new OL coach...lol :)

The clue has to be out there somewhere spaz!

really hope it's not another midwest guy. we are in desperate need of some serious mid-atlantic connections

I agree that we have a lot of the Midwestern guys on the staff but at least they have been all over the country and have had success there as well.

Appreciate the write up as its too much for me to keep track of in my head.

Random side note, when you said venn diagram my mind immediately recalled this

Well the names that I have as possibilities for OL coach:

A.J. Ricker - Western Michigan http://www.wmubroncos.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=924509

Mike Bloomgren - Stanford http://www.gostanford.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/mike_bloomgren_748662.html

Ron Crook - Stanford http://www.gostanford.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/ron_crook_751277.html

Darrell Funk - Michigan (long shot I know) http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/funk_darrell00.html

Bob Stanley - New Mexico formerly from Western Michigan http://www.golobos.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/stanley_bob00.html

I think Ricker is a high possibility obviously...lol

Has this name been brought up yet......Brian Rock?

He apparently has coached almost everywhere on the football field, and apparently does not officially have a job.
He was at Western Michigan the same time as the other SU coaches, then went to Purdue, then to Kent State.
When Kent State coach Hazell took the Purdue job, he named some assistants, and Rock was not one of them...yet(?)

He coached offensive tackles and tight ends at WMU for 4 years, and was special teams coordinator for a few years.

He is 50 years old, so would be the dinosaur of this SU coaching staff, but still quite young.
But sorry, folks, no northeastern ties in his resume.

Here is his Kent State profile:

He could very well be gone but the way Shafer phrased it in his interview with Nolan might suggest he is being retained.

Maybe the reason Shafer can't discuss the Morrison situation yet is because they're hammering out contract details for an expanded role for him.

or

He's gone but they can't announce until his contract has officially expired (or he resigns)...which I think is the end of the month for month assistants.

He is gone... I heard he went back to Michigan for 'family reasons'

His name was bounced around for OC on several sites. He would be a great get as a position coach but I doubt we get him for that.
