Looks like Illinois is pushing for Milan.

Illinois Football Since 1996:

1996 2-9 (1-7)
1997 0-11 (0-8)
1998 3-8 (2-6)
1999 8-4 (4-4)
2000 5-6 (2-6)
2001 10-2 (7-1)
2002 5-7 (4-4)
2003 5-7 (4-4)
2004 3-8 (1-7)
2005 2-9 (0-8)
2006 2-10 (1-7)
2007 9-4 (6-2)
2008 5-7 (3-5)
2009 3-9 (2-6)
2010 7-6 (4-4)
2011 7-6 (2-6)
2012 2-10 (0-8)
2013 4-8 (1-7)

So they have had a winning record 4 times in the past 18 years and a winning record in B1G play 3 times in 18 years. They have gone 2-6 or worse in B1G play 11 of the past 18 years and are 3-21 in the past 3 years.

Tom Cruise was right. This is a truly terrible program.

Oh, and by the way, I didn't mean to hijack this thread. Jamal looks really impressive. Surprised he doesn't have more offers. It looks to me as though a lot of B1G schools are reluctant to recruit certain areas of Chicago, which is very much to our benefit.

Anyway, I would love to see Milan in orange. The good orange, that is; Syracuse orange.

I noticed that line about 'being the best again', too.
They were national champions in the 1920's - back before things like penicillin were discovered.
So, if they're trying to recapture the magic from 90 years ago, that slogan is perfect.

They are a football afterthought out here in Chicago. Notre Dame, Northwestern and at least 4-5 other Big 10 programs get more love here than the Illini. Besides our staff themselves, Beckman and his crew are the best thing for SU recruiting in the Chicagoland area

We all agree that Illini football has been real bad in recent years but UI does offer a great B1G education, especially if the student/athlete wants to stay and work in the Chicagoland area.

Can you tell my daughter that please? It would save me a lot of cash if she stays instate!

Also just walked by another teams parents talking about how big three-star DL Jamal Milan of Raby is. No shame, y'all. @jmal_is_my_name

At the Red Grange Classic in Warrenville...HS FB competition.
Beth Long is an SU grad. She does a good job out there in the Midwest covering recruiting for the site that shall remain nameless.

Love his potential, would be great to steal him from B1G country. He needs some work on his technique but who doesn't, plays a bit high at times but he could be real good on the DL with some work. Why not do it at the Cuse, Jamal. I think our track record speaks for itself compared to his other offers. Really want this kid, think he can be great.

He visited Illinois.

Would love a series with Illinois. Definitely have been a thorn in our side and we've been a big one in theres.

Not encouraged by those tweets.

Hopefully it's just the post trip excitement, and another 3 or 4 win season will damper things again. If he wants to stay close to home this could be a problem, especially with Illinois trying to make a big push in state, and the pressure of a couple of the states other top prospects committed there.
