I guess we were a year ahead of schedule in our expectations for 2017, but there was a lot to like as well. Like many of you I was hoping we would get to a bowl this year, especially after Clemson.

Thanks to Dungey and a host of offensive players for making it exciting. Thanks to a bunch of banged-up defensive players that kept us close in some big games. Thanks to the coaches for giving us hope again after some tough years. I still have hope, just pushed back a year. Dino Babers will make us competitive with our peers, given time and players that can manifest his vision for SU football.

Thanks to CuseLegacy, Orangexteme, Tomcat, Tom in CT, Bees and others that do so much to create a place to celebrate SU sports, particularly football at this moment. Lastly, thanks to all of you that contribute to the general atmosphere here, folks like SWC, Bnoro, Finwad, Beadle, Reed, Cherie, PACuse et al, StOrange, Jeremy, Cuseregular, Crusty, PeteCalvin, OttoinGrotto (sp?), Texanmark, Ottomets, Consigliere, Ilandz, CTO and many others with good insight into college sports, particularly as it relates to SU.

SU football is special to me. I enjoyed this season a lot and thought this might be our breakout year, but I'll have to keep looking forward for a little longer. I have to think I'll REALLY enjoy SU football when we're actually winning again...

Hope is just the beginning. In 2018, we will BOWL! We will have depth and power and skill. Depth hurt us again this year. If we could only have kept Dungey on the field for every snap, it's a little different story.

Take the off season to get stronger and watch LOTS of tape. So many games hinged on poor reads and miscues...on both sides of the ball. Fix the easy stuff and get ready.

Hope springs eternal...
That is why we always look forward to the possibilities for next year.

Word... thanks to all of the players,
scholarship and walk-on, who bust their *** year round and risk their health to try to wins games for the school and fans. Thanks to the coaches for the countless hours spent trying to do the same. Thanks to the die hards for hanging tough after days like today ( and the past two decades )... and thanks to syracusefan.com for giving us all a place to congregate.
