Almost everyday you see a 404 error or Not found message while surfing the Internet. This error occurs when your computer is not able to communicate with a server or server can't find what was requested. Since the decimal form of April 4 coincides with 404, this day has become 404 Day.
April 4 is a special day for Electronic Frontier Foundation, that organizes a day of action against censorship in public and school libraries. According to the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) public and school libraries have to censor and restrict access to the websites, that might include obscene or pornography images, harmful to minor images in exchange for federal funding.
Unfortunately, the filters block the constitutionally protected websites, like the websites with vitally important health information, websites of art museums. Due to keyword blocking the filters also block the content, that can not be legally prohibited, for instance, medical information about breast cancer and chicken breasts. At the same time filters are not always reliable, since they do not block thumbnails of an adult sexual nature.
404 Day action against censorship in libraries should raise public awareness of filters and unnecessary restrictions. The bloggers and librarians can write about their experiences with blocked websites, Internet filtering and CIPA to help others find out how to deal with filters.

How JB Saved Christmas (Or At Least the SU Basketball Season) (DO; Dougherty)
Malachi Richardson needed to get his mind off basketball. If only for an hour, or a minute, or even a couple of seconds of peace and quiet in his head.
He wasn’t talking to any of his teammates but inside he was screaming at himself. They were all screaming at themselves, and while the locker room was nearly silent it really wasn’t silent at all.
Usually Richardson wouldn’t need this. Usually he could take a loss, crumple it up and toss it out of sight and mind. But not this time. Not this loss, even if there were three months of basketball ahead.
Syracuse’s frustration, all the way back on Jan. 5, was rooted in the following: An overtime loss to Clemson, some 40 minutes earlier, after leading by three on the Tigers’ final possession of regulation. An 0-4 start to Atlantic Coast Conference play. A season that once seemed so promising, when the Orange boarded a flight back from Atlantis undefeated at 6-0, was now slipping into the twilight zone.
So Richardson kept his head down while tidying up his locker. He changed out of his uniform and handed his sneakers to SU’s equipment manager. He slipped headphones over his head and started toward the exit.

Body paint makes it harder to forget.
Sitting in the lobby of the Courtyard Marriott on Sunday morning, a Syracuse student’s skin still had the orange tinge. He said he hadn’t tried too hard to scrub it off. He liked the reminder. Many students wandered the lobby of the hotel still wearing their green student-access wristbands. More than one person joked he hoped to wake up from this vividly detailed dream.
The bus ride home from NRG Stadium wasn’t silent. Beyoncé’s “Formation” played softly and people re-hashed the game in detail. Though there were certainly exceptions, the prevailing thought wasn’t anger. It wasn’t regret at driving 32 hours to spend 29 hours in Houston. It wasn’t even blaming the game on one player, coach or referee.
Just acceptance that North Carolina was simply the better team.
The witnesses of No. 10 seed Syracuse’s 83-66, magical-season-ending loss to the top-seeded Tar Heels filed from the stadium, lined up in the dark at the buses and talked about how cool it had all been.
It was hard to tell if some students were disappointed or just drained from a three-week-long run from a team that wasn’t supposed to make the NCAA Tournament.

Cold Weather Persists This Week Across CNY (Montreuil)
After another round of snow Sunday night, Central New York is looking more wintry than it did during most of the winter. The cold weather will be sticking around for the majority of the week, even if the threat for snow is lessened.
The storm system responsible for Sunday night's snow will push east of Central New York on Monday morning. Another batch of some snow, possibly mixing with a little rain, will move through during the mid morning hours. Otherwise, precipitation will be limited to a couple of scattered showers.
Temperatures will top out in the low 30s on Monday, but clearing skies Monday night will allow temperatures to drop quickly during the evening and overnight hours. The fresh snow cover, too, will help temperatures drop.

Tuesday morning lows will be in the teens for many places, but some of the outlying, typically colder locations will drop all the way into the single digits. Temperatures will rebound modestly under sunny skies Tuesday afternoon, with highs around 30 degrees.
For comparison, the average highs in Syracuse this week are in the low 50s.
Tuesday night will again be very cold, with teens and some single digits. Clouds will move in towards Wednesday morning, so temperatures may not be able to drop quite as low for Wednesday morning.
