Or you would believe Syracuse had an academic adviser do over 400 pieces of coursework for 18 basketball students. Oh wait that was Minnesota in 2000.

IIRC Minnesota sat some players out of their 1999 first round matchup with #1o seed Gonzaga. The Zags beat a depleted Minnesota squad and advanced to the elite 8. Maybe Gonzaga still beats a full strength Gophers squad, but that was the start of Gonzaga's run as the consistent top mid major that's still going on.
