Was a Shafer supporter for a long time. Reached a point where I didn't really care one way or another. I am now officially off. This season has been disgusting to watch. Almost every single player has regressed. How is that possible? Terrible coaching is how. Time to go.

My guess is the short horizon of Chancellor Shaw also contributed to the lost opportunity.

I don't think Jake was as obstructionist as some would believe. While he may not have been wheeling & dealing behind closed doors he certainly saw the writing on the wall with the BE.

It was a confluence of absentee leadership and transition within SU that created the missed opportunity.

Edit - and that doesn't change how much of a catastrophic lost decade TGD gave SU Athletics.

I don't see how Jake had control over his boss's decision not to reinvest in the FB program.

Daryl, like his boss TWO, spent like drunken sailors and still managed to make the FB program a national laughing stock.

There really is no comparison - one AD was successful while the other was not.
