"A college classmate tried to persuade me to come out then and there. But I couldn't yet. My one small gesture of solidarity was to wear jersey number 98 with the Celtics and then the Wizards. The number has great significance to the gay community."

And I thought they were just Tom Harmon fans.

I see, so because a Christian can disagree with the gay and lesbian community that automatically equals bigotry. Awesome assumption. So if I have republican political views and you have democratic, you are a bigot because you disagree and are "judging" my political views. Great premise.
It's not a simple disagreement. It's judging someone else's behavior by arbitrarily declaring it a sin.

I don't think it's a sin that you're a Republican. You have just as much of a right to vote as I do and I would never do anything to take away that right.

And like I said before, there are plenty of Christians who accept homosexuality. You can evolve just as they have. You can evolve just as you have with so many other topics found in the Bible.

The more I think about Broussard being asked about this and him actually answering the question, the more angry I become. How many players thank God the minute they win the big game, yet we never see any questions being raised about their faith afterwards considering they have children out of wedlock, multiple ex-wives, or other 'sinful' transgressions in their past. I'm sure Broussard knows more about players and their indiscretions than most of us here. It just bothers me.

I dont have a big problem with what Broussard said. He did point out all these sins that are in open rebellion to Christianity, including adultery and even premarital sex. Dumping him for his views is no more right than a team dumping Collins for his. Broussard did not say anything about infringing upon Collins rights to do anything, simply that as a member of a club (religion of Christianity) he does not feel that Collins being gay adheres to the rules of being a member of that same club.

This is exactly what I was talking about in my post before. King Otis infers that those who believe that homosexual acts are sinful are bigots, period. This is regardless of the fact that people, like me, who believe that also believe that gays should have the right to legally marry and adopt and should not be discriminated in work or other benefits.
Yes, I think that anyone who labels someone a sinner based on their race, religion or sexual orientation (to name a few) is bigoted.

That's great that you have accepted gays somewhat. I'm challenging you to go all the way. Accept them fully for who they are and ditch the rhetoric. Other Christians have done it.

King Otis, as I stated before in this thread, I recently had a long conversation with a pastor in L.A. who has about 10-20% of his congregation as homosexuals. He told me that about 1/2 of these gay people are celibate, (i.e., they believe that their orientation is not sinful, but to act on it would be). Honest question to you, do you think these gay celibate Christians are bigots?

They're self-loathers.

Being gay and celibate is like being a skinny person who should really be fat but doesnt eat junk food.

what does that even mean?

They're the types of guys who get arrested with a wide stance.
NKR, I'm not talking about closet gays. I'm talking about people who are open about their sexual attraction for the same sex, yet who choose to not act on that orientation.

The problem with the violence and philandering comparisons are that others are hurt by your actions. Jason Collins being gay has no impact on your life. And religion has lost the sex before marriage argument.
Having sex before marriage is hurting someone? What about looking at Pron? Just because it's not "hurting" someone does not make it okay biblically speaking, my point was that from a Biblical framework, "how you were born" is not a valid reason to not do what the Bible says.

Because they're told that doing so is sinful. Because of a book written thousands of years ago.

I know. I was just trying to make a joke. There's gotta be some pretty serious internal demons going on to reach their conclusion, but they're certainly nowhere near the Larry Craig/ex-gay category.

As long as it's consensual (and you're not hiding an STD), nope. In moderation, nope. And I get your point -- mine is that there are fewer and fewer people who follow biblical dictates on sex. To that, I say "Amen."

Got it. I do not think that priests who chose to be celibate or non-married heterosexuals who chose to be celibate until marriage or for life if they do not marry are necessarily dealing with demons if they want their acts to be in line with what they believe their faith requires. Why must it be different with gay Christians.

Somewhat ironic that one of the most conservative and probably the most overtly religious states in the nation is also the online Pron capital of the United States. Though this covers subscription based online Pron and stereotyping Mormons, it makes sense that a group of people that is so straight laced would pay for their Pron.

All I can say is that I feel sorry for them.

They also consume the most Jello, whatever that means.

Very interesting, but not surprising, about Alaska as well. "Close behind Utah with just over five Pron subscribers per thousand is Sarah Palin's Alaska. "

Right CuseTroop?

I certainly don't but I can't argue with your experience.

From my experience people just seem far more likely to research and read about things they oppose or are unfamiliar with vs something that they support or claim to support. Once they arrive at the conclussion they support something a fair amount (not all) get complacent/comfortable. Those that oppose something keep looking for more ammo to support why they are against it.
