A lot of people have expressed interest in soccer on this board the past few weeks. I know a lot of us are in NYC, is anyone here planning on getting season tickets? They have some available for less than $400/season.

I picked up 2 with another board member this summer.

I don't follow MLS that much but this team is backed by Man City if they spend money they could maybe grow the game in MLS.

I'll wait till they play soccer in a proper venue. Not a fan of Yankee Stadium, even if it is temporary.

I'm trying to find an MLS team to follow. NYCFC might be it. I live in CNY so season tickets aren't an option.

Agree they need to find a better venue to play in than Yankee Stadium. Hopefully the tri-state area will get another soccer-specific stadium.

I am certain the plan is to build a soccer stadium in Queens somewhere and I believe they are looking at a couple of sites.

Co-owned by Man City and the NY Yankees. Gross.

That said, they will undoubtedly spend money and I LOVE the fact that they going by NYC FC rather than adorning the team with a cheesy nickname. Let the fans pick a fitting nickname.

Just wait till the Red Sox/Fenway Sports Group/Liverpool "buy" the Revolution.

They are looking all over the main four boroughs. I think the ideal situation would still be to negotiate a spot by Yankee Stadium, but it depends if De Blasio's office will budge.

The Mankees.

Only If they rebrand the team and move them to Boston proper. Otherwise they'd be better off starting an expansion team in Boston. They host matches in Fenway already but ideally a soccer specific ground would be built.

In not a fan of the generic term New England. Make a team in Boston that the locals could really get behind, make the kits green to play off the Irish heritagethat they are fiercely proud of, and get Sam Adams as a shirt sponser.

Boston doesn't finance pro stadiums the Revolution want to move into a soccer only facility, but as good an NFL owner Kraft is he is a terrible MLS owner which is part of the reason I can't follow the Revolution. The rumor is Henry is watching this NYCFC and if they do well in Yankee Stadium the FSG would try to buy the Revolution and move them into Fenway and rebrand them after Liverpool.

My cell phone destroys quotes when it tries to autofill so hoping I corrected it.

End game, my perfect scenario would have multiple NE teams. Put one in Providence, Hartford, etc where they don't have any high level pro or college teams. Was unaware of anything re: the revolution but moving them and rebranding them for broader international appeal would be smart. Good luck getting anyone in England (Liverpool or anywhere else) to support a team called the revolution. May as well me called the 'Murricans!

Calling the Revolution cheap is an insult to actually cheap teams. They don't spend and the Krafts want a soccer only place in Boston, but nobody in Boston ever pays for sports stadiums. That is why Henry and FSG are watching this NYCFC/Man City thing. If it works they may try to buy the Revolution and combine their assets. It would be more to attract more Red Sox/Revolution fans to become Liverpool fans than the other way around.

If they started off playing games at Fenway they would sell a fair amount of tickets to folks like myself that just want to see Fenway and the soccer match would be a bonus. IF the overall objective is for NYCFC and likewise Boston FC, or whatever they name them to be a minor league farm team for the EPL clubs that would be great. Instead of sending players on loan to La Liga or Championship clubs send them to the MLS club instead. Specifically, there wouldn't be as big a language barrier seeing that Scouse could be translated to that Bostonian accent fairly easily.

And call them the Celtics and pronounce it correctly.

Soooo FC Boston Celtic Catholic Reds?

Boy that would be some kit:

But no I was thinking more in line of shared franchise names. Especially where there is a shared interest or chance to export the brand across multiple continents. These major owners span multiple sports as it is. Your Boston kits/ownership spurred a viable option in my head, nothing more.

I don't see a problem with keeping New England in the Foxboro area if they build their own stadium, as that stadium and surrounding area is pretty cool right now. For those who have never been to Gilette, it's got a ton of restaurants, shopping, a nice cineplex, etc.

Of course my brother (lives about 20 minutes from Foxboro) tells me the only thing Kraft wants to build there now is a casino, so who knows where a soccer stadium falls on his list of priorities.

Patriot Place is a nice place but the Revs need a new smaller stadium. Mr. Kraft doesn't spend a lick on the Revs and your right he wants a casino in Foxboro there is no room for a soccer stadium in that area and Kraft won't pay for it like he did Gillette. If the team played in Boston you would see a huge improvement atmosphere wise. At Fenway or new Boston soccer stadium would make it better. If NYCFC/Man City works watch FSG/Liverpool look at the Revs.

Not sure how much Lampard has left in tank, he will sell tickets and should be a good player to build around if he goes at it with full commitment Of course I'm a NYRB supporter so its bad news for us in a way..
