The other thing with Phil is that his team had always marketed him with the clean cut, I am a great guy, just "one of you" gimmick. Yes, I call it a gimmick -- one that has all unraveled to others in recent years -- it was clear to me well before that. Guy was a phony.

Only wish I could like this more than once. There's a reason the other pros called him FIGJAM (Fluck, I'm The Greatest, Just Ask Me).

He's undeniably one of the greatest golfers ever and a narcissist.

I forgot who said it, but it was very telling when a fellow PGA Champion said Phil wasn't missed at all when he skipped the PGA Championship and its Champions Dinner the year after winning at Kiawah.
