Ricky Ledo checking out of Providence and headed to the NBA...

Great talent, horrible attitude. For as good as this kid is, you're almost better off having him not on your campus, as weird as that sounds.

College isn't for everyone. Kid would have been better off playing somewhere overseas for a year, if he was mature enough to be able to handle living on his own in a foreign country.

Hi guys, here is a little context on some of the comments and where Ricky Ledo is today.

This is a kid that had immense talent at a very young age with a typical screwed up family situation. The kid made every horrible decision you could make as a high school player and these poor decisions cost him being able to play a year for his hometown team.

Then Cooley enters the picture and through his kind of mentoring Ledo has really done a 180, every report from the school is that he has been an exemplary teammate and student this year, not one ounce of trouble and his teammates and fellow students love him. The kid did not miss one class and achieved a 3.2 GPA for the 1st semester and that includes all the required classes that kill most freshman students at PC.

The quote from the coach above is from Mike Hart, MCW's coach at St. Anthony's who coached Ledo for one year when he was 15 years old. Imagine carrying that label from 15? Cooley used what people thought about Ledo to help motivate him to become a better person and teammate.

The talent is substantial as many know, Cooley let scouts watch almost every practice PC had. The one in particular that probably influenced this decision the most and has scouts talking about him included him hitting about 20 consecutive 35 footers in warm-ups and then completely dominating a scrimmage where he literally scored at will from all over the floor. One of the scouts in attendance called it one of the most incredible offensive displays he has seen.

This still could be of some use to Cooley and PC, if the kid can get drafted in the 1st round Cooley can say he took a player that honestly most programs shied away from and turned his life around to the point where he became a 1st round draft pick.

One last comment for some in this thread who are saying that MCW is way above Ledo; you are wrong.

I think that says more about Providence than Ledo... (I kid I kid)

It's nice that Cooley turned Ledo into such a great person now that he repays the debt by, you know, never playing a minute of college ball for him. Sounds like a great kid.

Cooley is no dummy he knew what he was getting into, he took a shot at getting him eligible for this year and they failed, PC unfortunately is still at the point where they have to take some risks.

PC did receive some good news today, senior Kadeem Batts has decided to stay for his 5th year instead of going to Europe and PC just announced a long term contract extension and pay raise for Cooley.

Continue bothering the UConn fanbase and Providence will always have a silent ally in Syracuse. I doubt SU fans will follow the new Big East anymore, but Providence was never a threat to Syracuse thus a lot of Syracuse fans will root for Providence to be successful as we despise Georgetown, and don't want them to do well. I love the job the PC fans have done at bothering and getting under the skin of the UConn fans. SU may play a game with PC in a Preseason tournament in the future good luck and continue bothering UConn.
