Orange Trio Named All-America
Two student-athletes earn first team honors in a single season for the first time in program history

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Three members of the Syracuse University field hockey team, the 2014 national runner-up, earned Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-America honors, as announced on Monday morning. It marks the seventh straight year that three Orange garnered All-America accolades and the first time in program history that two student-athletes were named First-Team All-Americans.

Juniors Alyssa Manley and Emma Russell were both named to the All-America First Team, a first for both players. Manley becomes the ninth player in school history to earn multiple All-America honors in her playing career after being named to the third team in 2013. Freshman midfielder Lieke Visser received All-America Third Team accolades, becoming the first Syracuse freshman to be named an All-American since Laura Hahnefeldt in 2010.

Manley earned All-ACC, All-ACC Championship, and All-Mideast Region honors for the second straight year in 2014. An anchor in the Syracuse midfield, the Lititz, Pa. native recorded 15 points on three goals and nine assists on the season. Manley spearheaded the team's run to the national final, scoring the game-winning goal in a penalty shootout against No. 1 North Carolina in the national semifinal. She was named to the All-NCAA Tournament Team for her efforts in the national tournament.

Russell put together one of the best years statically in program history, scoring 46 points on 21 goals and four assists. Her 21 goals in a single season ranks third in school history, while her 46 points ranks sixth. The Enniskerry, Ireland native currently ranks second on the Syracuse career goals list with 42 goals in her first three seasons on campus. Like Manley, Russell earned All-ACC and All-Mideast Region accolades for the second year in-a-row. She earned All-ACC Championship honors after setting tournament records with six goals in three games and four goals against Boston College in the quarterfinals.

Visser made the quick jump in her first collegiate season, ranking second on the team in scoring with 39 points on 11 goals and 17 assists. Her team-leading 17 assists ranks third in program history for a single season, while her 39 points ranks 11th. The Bunnik, Netherlands reaped in the awards in 2014, earning All-ACC and All-Mideast Region honors.

In total, Syracuse has had 39 All-Americans selected all-time. Manley and Russell are the 12th and 13th student-athletes to earn first-team honors, while Visser became the 14th Third Team All-American
