Another closed to the public scrimmage. I feel bad for the players parents. Most of them are spending a decent amount of cash to send their boys to these three private schools and they can’t even watch this scrimmage.

I’m interested to see how they roll the players out versus Hofstra. I am still trying to figure out what is going tomorrow with Seebold and Klan. Seebold was great when I saw him in lake placid this summer, fit in great with Rehfuss and Solomon. As for Klan, not sure what happened to him. Starter for the u19 gold medalist and now 4th string at SU.

All the scrimmages have been closed since the team moved to the IPF.

There are no seats.

Fall ball was the time for that . Glad they are closed at this late stage with season upon them. Rather have the coaches focused on sorting out and preparing to put the best group out there rather than appeasing any parents or fans.

Please, 99% of teams have open scrimmages and their coaches have no issue getting their team ready to play. Having scrimmages open to family has nothing to do the coaches. Maybe director of operations and facilities crew but not Desko and the boys. Oh well, we will get to see this team soon enough.

Honestly I don't have an issue with it, SU puts out enough info out postgame along with the DO, and Syracuse.com to get a feel about what happened. With bball still playing the Dome isnt really an option so its either Coyne field, Manley or the Ensley center. As long as he keeps winning I don't care if he closes every practice and scrimmage to the public.

Yours truly thought it was stupid they didn't plan a bump out of the building to gain some room for portable rolling stands.

Nick Martin on the draw with Freshmen #34 Partamian & #48 LSM Jared Fernandez on the wings. I think Fernandez has a chance to really shine in this role as a Frosh...speed, low center of gravity, & a very skilled/violent stick. Kid's a GB machine & it's awesome that he took fellow Floridian Salcido's #48.

Orange Down #19 Hofstra and Le Moyne in Scrimmages

The No. 10 Syracuse men's lacrosse team squared off against No. 19 Hofstra and Le Moyne in its second day of preseason scrimmages of the 2018 season.

In a matchup of two ranked teams, 'Cuse used a balance offensive attack and a staunch defensive effort to come away with an 11-4 win over the pride. Later in the day, Syracuse jumped out to an early 11-5 lead at the half, before finishing with a 15-10 win over the Dolphins.

In game one, nine different scorers led the way for 'Cuse, which closed the game on a 7-1 run to pick up the victory. Stephen Rehfuss led the way with three points on a goal and an assist, while Jamie Trimboli and Peter Dearth each had two goals apiece.

After an early goal from the Pride, David Lipka and Tyson Bomberry closed the first quarter with goals to give the Orange a 2-1 lead. The defensive battle continued into the second with Jimmy Yanes netting his second for Hofstra, with Trimboli providing a quick answer for the only goals of the frame.

'Cuse then exploded for five goals in the third, with Tucker Dordevic, Rehfuss, Trimboli, Dearth and Brendan Curry each finding the back of the net. Syracuse got goals from Dearth, Matt Lane and Riley O'Sullivan in the fourth to give the Orange a 11-4 final.

At the faceoff X, Danny Varello won 7-of-12 restarts, while Seth DeLisle won 1-of-3. In cage, Dom Madonna made four saves and allowed just four goals in 45 minutes, Drake Porter shutout the Pride in his 15 minutes of action. Hofstra's 2017 All-American netminder Jack Concannon played all-60 minutes and stopped four shots.

'Cuse was also strong in the clearing game, finding success on 16-of-19 opportunities.

Against Le Moyne, Syracuse jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Rehfuss again led the way in scoring with four points (1 goal, three assists), this time he was joined by Nate Solomon (3-1) and Lucas Quinn (2-2) in the scoring lead. Sam Romano (1-2) Owen Seebold (1-2) and Lipka (1-1), each had multi-point efforts against the Dolphins as well.

Goals from Trimboli, Solomon (twice), Rehfuss, Pat Carlin and Brad Voigt opened the first period for 'Cuse to a 6-1 lead.

The offensive onslaught continued into the second period, where Sam Romano, Jacob Buttermore, Troy Lauder, Lipka and Tyler Ford all found the back of the net with 'Cuse taking an 11-5 lead into the half.

The third quarter was nearly all Le Moyne, with Quinn scoring in the final three minutes of the frame to halt a 4-0 Dolphins run. Seebold, Buttermore and Quinn scored fourth quarter goals for the Orange to finish off the day.

At the X, Varello won two of his four draws in the first quarter. DeLisle took six facoeffs and won three. Nick Martin (3-of-8) and Nate Garlow (6-of-9) also took faceoffs against Le Moyne.

Willie Klan III got the start in the second game for 'Cuse, making two saves and allowing two goals in 22 minutes of action. Luke Strang made four saves as well, with Porter seeing time in the final frame stopping one shot and allowing just one goal.

Syracuse will conclude its 2018 preseason with another scrimmage in Ensley Athletic Center against No. 5 Yale. Due to the facility not having seating, this scrimmage will again be closed to the public.

Seebold and Quinn both make appearances and get on the scoring sheet. Delisle also saw some action at the X. SU is playing so many offensive players its hard to keep track of everyone. Team could easily run 4 mid field lines. Interested to see who plays next week, should really give us some insight on who could see major minutes vs Bingo.

If I had to guess, I'd think Oladunmoye, Buttermore, Partamian, & possibly even Lipka are running SSDM. The 1st 2 definitely fit our mold of former football standouts like underclassmen Jovan, Ianzito, Messina, & now Schwasnick.

Just a reminder that a frosh can play in scrimmages and still redshirt. We're not going to have all 50 guys active on game days.
