And to add to it, no staff changes since Hopkins departure even while recruiting continued to decline, couldn't achieve higher than a 9 seed, all of this aligns with around the time that Buddy came on board. Its all a vicious cycle.

the same thing happened with pasqualoni, then by the time they realized it, it was too late. Add in an asleep at the wheel administration not keeping up with the facilities arms race in conjunction with the worst ever power 5 hire in history just to be sure to not just drive it into the ground, but 20 feet under, and we saw what happened there. 20 years later there's finally some hope.

Don't think it'll take that long with hoops to get things righted, but it's the same general trajectory its appearing.

Fortunately, you can turn around a basketball program that has great fan support fairly quickly with the right coaching hire. With no 2023 committed recruits and the performance so far this year, I would think this is the last year for JB.

Didn’t BC have a couple glory years after leaving the BE, especially in FB? And I think Missouri as well was competitive early on in the SEC. Nebraska further descended. And Rutgers has been a constant (at the bottom albeit.)

I’d say poor conference fit, JB’s failure to adapt, and mega-money in the BiG & SEC (TV, NIL, & under-the-table) are the top 3 problems.

this year needs to be it, you can't let JB go out on his own terms now, the admin already let him do that when he wasn't wanting to follow the HCIW plan. The minute Hopkins bolted for UW they should have sent JB packing, instead of kissing his arse and extending his contract 15 seconds later. Now, here we are, a dumpster fire of a program.
