I just finished watching a 6 part series on the history of the Vikings on National Geographic.
We always learn of them from the perspective of England, who they repeatedly raided for 300 years, eventually ruling the country under 4 Viking kings for over 30 years, until Edward the Confessor, and then William the Conqueror, a Viking descendant of his own.
Great series, told from their perspective. Vikings went from raiders to traders to farmers to settlers, and eventually populated most of Northern Europe, from Russia and the Baltics to Normandy, Scotland, England and Iceland.
