Was at the Melo Center today and saw 1 player working the practice court

Drink up the hater juice TC. Turn it into 14 points/game next year.

I usually don't come on here to bash Cooney, I do it in the privacy of my own home, in front of my tv set. If he averages 14 points a game next season, I will come on here and profess my undying love and admiration for the kid. For the record, I was always a big fan of Andy.

I also hear what Cooney lacks in athleticism he makes up for in his "hard work", "high-bball IQ", and overall "scrappiness"

He'll need it as the other guards he will be competing against are "very athletic" and have "raw ability" and can practically "jump out the building", but conversely those guys dont have a very strong "work ethic"

Trevor's problems this season were all due to lack of confidence.

Joe Torre used to preach "play with intensity without being tense". Unfortunately, on most nights, TC wasn't able to separate the two. Once he learns how to play relaxed there will be an "all you can eat buffet of crow" served here.

Personally, I can't wait for all the back pedaling to start. Keep your head up Trevor...you'll be fine.

TC's athletic ability has nothing to do with his inconsistent play.

Are you saying he is unathletic? I guess you didn't see him dunk over someone in a HS game.

I see what you did there...

his tutor was at the class, handing in the paper he wrote for him.

good lord, do we have to spell everything out on here??

Oh Lord

Dumb question alert!! You already knew the answer to this!! Just in case you didn't: YES!!!

Some of you guys are idiots. Fact is, TC played pretty damn well, especially on defense. What he didn't do well was shoot. If he had shot 40+% but played everything else the same, you all would be singing his praises.

he is a shooter.

By the time Trevor Cooney leaves he will be well loved by all and praised by many for his contributions to the program over 4 or 5 years. Players like Trevor are an integral and essential part of the Syracuse program and help to bring consistency and continuity as many players are only in the progam for a year or two.

The career trajectory of a player like Trevor is different from a MCW, Dion Waiters, and Fab Melo. Even with those players, who were all 2 and done, to what extent did they contribute the first year they were on the court? If you look at it honestly the answer is that all 3 of them were played even more sparingly than Trevor was this past year which was his first year.

The trajectory of the other players was meteoric in that it went from little or nothing to being an integral player in the program. Trevors trajectory will be over a 4 or 5 year time period and will be marked with continual improvement but not the sharp contrast from year to year that you see in the "short timers".

Look at Scoop, Rick Jackson, KJ, GMAC, and others who had longer careers at Cuse. That's the type of player Cooney will be. I have complete confidence in Jimmy B and his staff at accessing talent and more importantly, talent which will be beneficial to the program. Trevor isn't here as an afterthought. They wanted him. In time he will improve considerably and when all is said and done I'll bet that he is fondly rememebered by most all Cuse fans. (Even some of the ones who blow his some crap on here)

The real question is, where the heck is everyone else? Everyone can pile on Trevor all they want but the guy was a Freshman! The way some people talk around here and you would think he player more than high school ball the last time he played organized ball. Btw, where were Grant and DC speaking of the Frosh!
What I want to know is why is anyone on here criticizing any of the players about being in the gym when a poster just happened to be there? Furthermore, I wouldn't be worked up over any of them taking a week or two now that the season is over to take a break and catch up on schoolwork and let their bodies recover. Can't any of you remember the end of a sports season? Quite often you need a little time away to let the body recover and the mind recharge. Give them all a break!

I think that's kinda the point though.

Exactly. Someone needs to make one of those "keep calm and..." posters for him

He needs to be prepared to avg 8 points & 4 assists against all teams to get > 15mpg next season. Also, he needs JB to feel good when he has the ball. If not, shooting confidence won't matter.

he is a shooter.
Sort of missed the point, eh? He may have been known as a shooter but he does other stuff too. He is a complete player who had a down year shooting. Before all is said and done, I'm going to guess that he will be a pretty good shooter in games.

Make sure you stand under the hoop so you dont get hit when he is shooting:) Couldnt help myself. The kid just needs to play. Head to Europe young man and get your confidence back! I think that the speed of the game was huge for him this year. I expect that with a solid summer he will contribute some solid minutes next year.

I'm not too worried about his career.i do think he'll be fine.

But there is no other way to describe his season this year as a big let down.

He was our 3 pt specialist who shot 25% from 3. Maybe closer to 10% after cupcakes. He does everything else average, which I guess in comparison to his shooting is good. So yeah, I guess I missed your point. Sorry about that.

I'm envisioning "Keep calm and shoot the J" with Dave Chappelle's head as Prince in the place where the crown usually goes.

Have at it, photoshoppers.

As long as Trevor can become a solid contributor , either as a sub or as a starter, that really is all you can expect from any player. Everybody always criticizes Baye , but 3 years in a row at the end of the year, he has been our most dependable Big.

From what I recall, he started horribly, but after the Big East season started he managed to (for a time) bring his average up from the high teens to about 30%.
