I am curious how and why there are five games this weekend.
Could SU have played this weekend instead of next weekend?

Anyone know why we'll see the following games this weekend?
Any why on earth is Hawaii playing at UMass? Talk about stupid use of limited funds.

Saturday, August 26

Oregon State @ Colorado State

2:30 PM CBSSN - CSU Stadium - Fort Collins, CO

Portland State @ BYU
3:00 PM ESPN - WatchESPN - LaVell Edwards Stadium - Provo, UT

Hawai'i @ UMass
6:00 PM - Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium - Amherst, MA

#19 South Florida @ San José State
7:30 PM CBSSN - CEFCU Stadium - Home of the Spartans - San Jose, CA

#14 Stanford @ Rice
10:00 PM ESPN/WatchESPN - Allianz Stadium - Sydney, NSW

The Australian game is being played early, obviously, for travel reasons. I mentioned in another thread that Hawaii plays at Army next season. It makes no sense to me either.

Excited for football, but none of those games interest me. Possibly Hawaii-UMass as I believe there are some ex Cuse players on UMass.

Just Fredericks, as far as I can tell.

I would rather watch any of these games than Game 7 of the World Series.

Not me. I'd watch a Brewers- Twins game over these choices.

I just looked at the roster. Former commit Sadiq Palmer is on the team. So are former targets Cycoby Burch and Martin Mangram. Maybe I was thinking of those guys.

i think Hawaii stays on the mainland and plays Mich next week so it wont cost them nearly as much to fly. not even sure if they have started school yet out there. how much do they get from mich could make it still a money maker for them

The USF - San Jose State game is a huge one for the AAC. If they want to be taken seriously, the better teams in that league really need to win their OOC games, especially against non-P5 programs.

It is hard to get out West and get a win.

The outcome should tell us a lot about how good that conference is.

Not sure Jordan will even play in this game or the season thought I read somewhere he broke his leg.

Skeptical on USF moving forward... it just seems like without the right guy at the helm that program always slips, talent be damned.

EDIT*** Bajeezus, I guess I didn't realize Charlie Strong went there with Gilbert... they'll be fine.

Hawaii appears to be trying to establish a recruiting presence in the Berkshires and the Taconic Parkway region.

Its a very odd slate of games, I like having an opening night Thursday to start College Football.

UMASS, The line moved huge in their direction. I don't see how Fredericks could have played this year as he was a transfer. I think the Minutemen can start 4-0.

It's a good thing that the Stanford-Rice game is in Australia because they would have been a tad wet otherwise.

Who cares? It's football!!!!!

It certainly kept me busy today, between that Oregon State-Col State game, the Yankees, and all day Travers coverage.

But it's still a good question, not that I'm complaining. Why the change to start a small handful of games a week early? Could we do that and get an extra bye later? What's the protocol? (Other than the Aussie game).
