Class of 2018 WR D'Marcus Adams (FL) Transferring from FAU to SYRACUSE

doesn't make a lot of sense to add him.

Hard to say, have to trust the coaching staff here. As a prospect, he signed with a blue blooded program at FSU.

Agree 100% that the numbers are a cause for concern. But he's experienced, he's practiced with FSU, and there's a connection to our WR coach. Wouldn't make sense if Johnson didn't think he had the chops.

At minimum, he probably pushes for a role as a return guy. I think people said some of those same concerns about Devaughn Cooper when he transferred here [re: the lack of productivity], and he made an impact on the two deep. We have numbers, but not a lot of experience / proven commodities.

We have a log jam at receiver with no one really separating themselves. That could be the reason why they added him to the mix. He will be the fastest out of the bunch. Don’t think Johnson brings Adams in unless he thinks he can play or brings something they’re lacking.

He'll be a redshirt junior and he's caught 3 passes in his career. We have a glut of wr's. Adding his speed doesn't really help us if he doesn't get on the field. Maybe he's just our new kick returner. idk.

I'd rather we gamble on a DT and not a 2nd portal WR who maybe doesn't contribute at the position. just my opinion.
So because we gambled on this WR it means we can’t also take a DT? If they find a DT they like I promise they’ll make the numbers work and get him on the roster.

point being there are other needs. We already brought in a portal receiver. I didn't think we needed another one. TE might'a been nice.

Cooper had caught 41 passes before he transferred.

I won't belabor it. I don't mind getting the kid. I just question the need and the only risk is taking up a spot.

Area of need, kid has great speed, and his coach coached him last year at his old school.

Has great speed on his fly routes, just runs past the defense and has a 5-10 yard cushion by the time the ball arrives. Later in the video, he catches a couple over the middle, returns a couple kicks very impressively, and shows for short safety-valve type passes and then gets some pretty decent yards after the catch. Enjoy. This kid looks pretty good.

Those are his high school Mid-Season highlights. The video you posted is from 2017. He caught a total of 3 passes at FAU.

Lmao I was gonna say FAU looked… small

3 catches in 3 years? Is that right?

I agree we desperately need a man size DT but ya gotta love adding 4 star elite speed Florida kids.
We usually lose 1-2 players over summer for unexpected reasons so I’m sure we’ll have the room for a DT & the JuCo OT

My bad. Thank you. Kid's still fast as hell.

Syracuse football uses one of its last scholarships to take a transfer WR from Florida Updated: May. 06, 2022, 3:46 p.m. | Published: May. 06, 2022, 3:22 p.m.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse is polishing off its 2022 roster with a new transfer addition.

The Orange grabbed former Florida Atlantic University wide receiver D’Marcus Adams out of the portal on Friday.

This will be Adams’ second transfer after originally signing with Florida State in 2018. Adams will come to Syracuse as a graduate transfer and be eligible to play in the fall.

Adams is a former high school All-American and track star from Mainland High School in Florida. He also ran track at Florida State.

He first committed to Florida State under former coach Jimbo Fisher, then signed with the Seminoles after Fisher left for Texas A&M and Willie Taggart got the job.

Adams is a burner. He reportedly ran a 4.37 40 at the Jimbo Fisher Camp in 2017, around the time he committed. He was credited with 26 receptions for 592 yards, an average of 22.8 yards per reception, with three touchdowns as a senior in high school.

His college career has yet to take off to that degree. He has three catches in three seasons after taking a redshirt at FSU in 2018. He left that program after not seeing the field in 2019. Adams has also been utilized as a return specialist throughout his career.

His arrival at FAU in 2020 coincided with Taggart’s in Boca Raton. Adams appeared in seven games then as a redshirt sophomore and later worked at cornerback throughout preseason camp before sticking at receiver the following year.

Syracuse wide receivers coach Michael Johnson Sr. spent last season at FAU as a co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Syracuse offered Adams one of its last available scholarships for this recruiting cycle.

The 6-foot, 180-pounder brings an athletic resume to the team.

His high school track accomplishments include five regional championships. He placed second in the 400-meter dash and third in the 110-meter hurdles as a senior at the 3A state championship meet. He also participated in the long jump and as a member of the 4×400 relay team. His 110-meter hurdle time of 13.82 was the nation’s fifth-fastest high school time in 2018.

Just run and catch it. Nothing fancy. If nothing else, it will clear underneath space.

6' 180 lbs. though not big is OK size for a return man with 4.4 speed.
Coach Lig has something to work with.
Put him in the slot and run a jet sweep once in a while. He and Pena could be a problem for any defense.
Does this player have one or two seasons left?

Great speed, but if he hasn't played much and they looked at moving him to corner, then something is amiss. Bad hands? Poor route running? something held him off the field for three years.

Jamere Knox syndrome?
