Agree 1 million percent. Not to mention if you win the opening tip, the other team gets the possession arrow. How about at least awarding the arrow to the team that won the tip? It’s almost like you’re punished for itDon’t even get me started on the possession arrow as another stupid rule. It’s called a JUMP BALL for a reason. That needs to change before anything
1) The 1-&-1 is outdated, totally agree it should be eliminated. I’m kinda surprised it’s hung on as long as it has.
2) I’m mostly ambivalent on quarters vs halves. I would like to see how it would effect breaks in play and TV timeouts - I suspect the only way quarters will be implemented is in a format which allows more commercial breaks to get crammed in. I would not be a fan of that impact on the game.
3). I think people clamoring for the return of jump balls have forgotten what a cluster they were pre-1981. It may be that the best way to remind people what a bad idea jump balls are is to bring it back for a year. I have a lot of confidence it would last as long as challenging pass interference did in the NFL.
Is there something inherently wrong with being the only one to do something?I understand the nostalgia for halves instead of quarters... but the reality is this, Men's college basketball is the only organized basketball league, at any age level, male or female, in the WORLD, that uses halves instead of quarters that I'm aware of. The ONLY one. I don't see quarters having much impact anyway, so might as well just do it.

Better yet, why not let the offense choose if they get shots or the ball?
You fouled William Kyle in the bonus? We’ll take the ball, please.
You fouled Gerry McNamara in the bonus? Shots, sir.
The only problem I see with going to an actual jump is that it prevents rewarding any small guy with making a good defensive play with a tie up. In the case of a height difference, you're guaranteeing the team with the bigger guy gets possession. You see it in the NBA where the small guy doesn't even try. At least with the possession arrow, it's a 50/50 shot.Don’t even get me started on the possession arrow as another stupid rule. It’s called a JUMP BALL for a reason.
