The lack of discipline and core execution blows my mind.
This is the stuff that Marrone needs to be able to control better. We are not going to be the school that buys space shuttles for players to get to class and Phil Knight is not adopting us as an east coast stepson. For all the discipline and voodoo this program supposedly has, we are failing at idiotic, self-inflicted things that are supposedly preventable.
Not having a gamebreaker (in year four) or Clifton Smith-with-a-4.6-40 at the MIKE is one thing. Playing a heavy dose of dumb football is a different matter. And we keep seeing it. There is no way this program should be zip for the last eight against heavily mediocre FBS football.
Let's hope the Pugh return (sending Alexander to the bench presumably) and Flemming's return will help, somehow, spark the play of more than the individual unit. Hopeful, though not as bullish as I'd love to be.
