1996 Gator Bowl on youtube

I know people love this era uni - and it is really classy. The thing that's improved x1000 is the branding. The broadcast is using one logo, Coach P is rocking a different one, and the uni's have no logo anywhere (I think). Horrible.

Say what you will about the block "S" - but it is uniform across the unis, helmets, what SS and other coaches wear - and broadcast/website, etc.

Side note: 2 all time great Eagles in this game. Mcnabb and Dawkins. Love it.

That guy has the 97 fiesta bowl to in case anyone wants to relive that.
Glad I was able to find that one. I was 10 years old and my dad surprised me a week before the game with tickets and a trip to Phoenix for Christmas for my first Syracuse game. Since we flew out of Omaha we obviously had no problem getting there but I remember talking to some family in Utica about the weather and getting to the stadium and having the Syracuse section about half full cause of the Blizzard.

I re-watched the SU-KSU Fiesta Bowl. Still blows my mind how Michael Bishop didn't make it in the NFL. What a talent. A more dynamic passer and runner than McNabb in college although his sample size was pretty small being that he was a JC transfer.

I agree and was thinking the same thing, Bishop was explosive and it seemed unbelievable when he didn't connect with his receivers.

I think I saw him as a backup once in New England at some point a long time ago.

Yup. It's clear how good Darius and Dawkins were in that game. Agreed on the unis and inconsistency of the branding. At one point in the mid 90s the hoops team had royal blue while everything else was navy as well. Now if we can only fix that damn "Orange" and get it back to "Orangemen." I can't STAND the current.

Great game.

Also, the Croissant Pockets commercial at 1:29:50 is one of the most ridiculous things in the history of advertising.

wonder how much improved depth has to do with more plays for more guys.

a lot of the top 20 scoring stuff comes from obliterating really horrible dregs. i don't have yards handy.

offense was 4 for 4 in the top 20 scoring from 95-98. defense was 3 for 4. (big drop in 98... these dots are here for a reason... ... ... not going to do it ... don't do it...)

DeLeone! (Sorry, had to).

It takes more than physical talent to play QB in the NFL.

I believe he was beat out for the backup to Bledsoe by someone named Tom Brady, though.

interestingly enough, mcnabb and bishop had the exact same qb rating in 98. 158.9 (really good back then)

Bishop only completed 51% of his college passes (both years combined). His YPA was very high though. One year wonder, 128.5 his junior year.

Worth taking a shot drafting him in the 7th round based on how much he improved as a senior but there are plenty of warning signs. Guy completed 43% of his passes as a junior. He had a 190 rating in the fiesta bowl and a 128.5 for his whole junior year.

he's a good example of judging by numbers and not just the game against us where he was great
