This^^^^^^^^
I never expected us to win this game and like that we kept it close but the O game plan (if there was one) was really bad and never adjusted. I'm not hopeful the O can be "fixed" this late in the season by an interim OC who has been thrown into the fire and inherited a playbook and scheme created by another guy who we all agree failed miserably. That said, I don't understand folks who believe this will somehow "get better". How ?
The only way things improve is with better coaching and more talent at the skill positions. We don't have 3-4 years to bring in incrementally better players. So that leaves 2 options: either our existing coaching staff gets extremely creative with our limited talent, or we change out the coaching staff and bring in a higher profile HC that can recruit the necessary talent immediately. "Developing" 2-3 star players, which might have worked in the BE, isn't cutting it at this level.
I do like SS. But the evidence is mounting that our talent gap cannot be masked, let alone erased, without an ACC-level staff with ACC-level salaries and recruiting connections. Otherwise, we're at or near the conference bottom praying that we don't get embarrassed (and injured) by vastly superior programs.
