Not to usurp our favorite historian SWC75, the first 2 games have really bothered me because it feels like to me that we have gone away from our strengths that we found in the second half of 2012. The following are rushing stats for Smith and Gulley for 2012 and now 2013.

My firm belief is that we have regressed in the run game alone. Once FHCDM committed to running the ball starting with UConn (Smith carries went up to 20 or more per game and if you notice PTG got more carries as the year went on too) - we went on a 6-1 run - and that was 2 games after J Pugh was back.

Smith (carries, yards, avg)
NW = 10-34-3.4
USC = 16-46-2.9
SB = 18-95-5.3
Minny = 9-52-5.8
Pitt = 10-61-6.1
RU = 15-67-4.5
UConn = 19-133-7.0
USF = 28-127-4.5
Cincy = 21-166-5.5
Lville = 18-144-8.0
Missou = 14-48-3.4
Temple = 20-96-4.8
WVA = 29-152-5.2

Total = 227-1,171-5.2

PTG (carries, yards, avg)
NW = 7-50-7.1
USC = 9-56-6.2
SB = 11-28-2.5
Minny = 10-48-4.8
Pitt = 10-31-3.1
RU = 7-4-0.6
UConn = 8-38-4.8
USF = 14-67-4.8
Cincy = 13-61-4.7
Lville = 15-98-6.5
Missou = 15-53-3.5
Temple = 13-83-6.4
WVA = 26-213-8.2

Total = 158-859-5.3

Now for 2013:
Smith
PSt 16-75-4.6
NW 11-45-4.1

PTG
PSt 12-24-2.0
NW 9-32-3.6
