What we know:
SU will play BC, Clemson, FSU, Maryland, NC State and Wake Forest.
SU will play Pitt (our cross over rival).
We will play two of Duke, GT, UM, UNC, UVa and VT.
The Atlantic plays 5 home games in odd years, 4 home games in even years.
Pitt fans are confident they are playing at Syracuse in 2013. I think this is mostly because they know the Atlantic has the extra home game that season.
We are already scheduled to play at BC on 11/30/13. Let's assume the ACC honors that agreement, but assume the game is moved to Friday 11/29/13 instead, based on the SU/BC commitments to play on Friday nights).
We open with Penn State at Met Life on 08/31/13.
We play at Northwestern 09/07/13.
We will almost surely fill the 12th game of the schedule with a non BCS team, probably a Colgate/Maine/URI type school that will not require a home and home to come to the Dome.
Given all that, my best guess as to our schedule for 2013 as of today looks like this:
Sat, August 31st, Penn State @ East Rutherford, NJ
Sat, September 7th Northwestern @ Evanston, IL
Sat, September 14th, D1AA opponent TBD, Carrier Dome
TBD, TBD, Atlantic on the road
TBD, TBD, Atlantic at home
TBD, TBD, Coastal on the road
TBD, TBD, Atlantic at home
TBD, TBD, Coastal at home
TBD, TBD, Atlantic on the road
TBD, TBD, Atlantic at home
TBD, TBD, Pittsburgh, Carrier Dome*
Fri, November 29th, Boston College @ Chestnut Hill, MA
*might well be Sat, November 23rd, would love to have it played on Sat, 11/16/13 with a bye on 11/23/13. I think the ACC will try and have SU play Pitt and BC late each season.
I hope Clemson and FSU are staggered so we play one at home and one on the road each year.
I hope BC and Maryland are staggered so we play one at home and one on the road each year.
We are surely only going to play 6 home games. It looks like it will be a while, maybe a good long while before we will play 7 home games in a season again. I bet we have less games at home than any school in the Big 5 conference for the past 5 years and the next 5 years as well.
