2013 Syracuse Freshman Cal Paduda working out with MLL career leader in face-offs

Where was Cal last year? He graduated from Loomis in 2011.

???? What??? Who???? There is no Paduda listed on Laxpower as a recuit in 2011, 2012 or 2013.

This may be the mystery FO guy Desko mentioned in his interview after losing to Duke. But, it begs the question: What has he been doing for the last year? I guess making videos...

There's a C.G.Paduda listed in the SU Student Directory, as a Freshman.

The Loomis Chaffee School Graduates: Charles Evans of Madison, a member of the boys varsity lacrosse team who will attend the University of Mississippi; Cal Paduda of Madison, an honor roll student and captain of the boys varsity lacrosse team who will attend Trinity College; and Taylor Staten of Madison, a varsity basketball player and recipient of the Coach's Award who will attend Elon University.

Hmmm...something happened between graduation and now as he was not on the Trinity LAX roster this past spring.

Somewhere in a lab south of Syracuse John Desko has been working feverishly honing the skills of the new face off man for Syracuse University

Don't want to name names, but SU is trying to get a top Rochester lax kid to flip. He is interested, but not sure how it works getting out of a previous signed commitment. I don't follow lacrosse recruiting, but does this indicate that they didn't get some of the kids they wanted. FYI, one of our area coaches asked Desko why he doesn't recruit more in the Rochester area. Lots of good kids over the years never got a sniff from SU.

Unless there are extenuating circumstances (coach fired, major league upheaval - think Duke), the kid would lose a year of eligibility. Seems unlikely.

Not actually lacrosse does not have the requirement you miss a year like football and basketball. As long as the school releases you you are free to sign where ever.

Only the sports dominated by African Americans have that restriction. Things that make you go hmmm.

No, sports that actually make money for the school and offer free rides. Your average lacrosse player or swimmer is paying for a chunk of their education. Holy crying racism where there is none batman.

Can you give hints as opposed to names?

JD lost to both Fairport and Irondequoit this season.

Fairport has a couple of kids headed to Albany and Binghamton, Irondequoit has Bingo, Penn, Towson, and VMI.

The Laxpower forum consensus is that he had an undistinguished career at a not-very-good Loomis Chaffee program. Thus, move along, probably nothing to see here.
Good program bad stretch quality program

Irondequoit is the program I was talking about. Fairport has some players as well and I happened to live in Fairport but don't follow the team at all.

I don't believe Academy athletes sign a national letter of intent. Might be a loophole for Gunnar. Seems a little sleazy on Desko's part (imo).

EDIT: just speculating on my part.

Woody, is that something you could see desko initiating or do you think it is the player realizing he may not want to join the army? Times have changed, but doesn't seem like his style.
