Bills will likely need to win out to make the playoffs...which would give them the tie-breaker vs the Jets...but they would still need either the Steelers or Chiefs to fall apart and go 2-2

That pass interference penalty against the Jags, when the game was essentially over, will come back to mean something. I know, I know, easier to win the game convincingly and keep it out of the refs hands, but the NFL is very tight these days and you're going to have games where every play matters. So getting a win taken out of your hands is tough (7-5 vs. 6-6 would be very big right now).

From what I've read, it's going to be pretty hard for them to catch us in the strength of victory tie breaker.

Yes, and in that scenario, if the 4-4 in-Conf Steelers lose to the Bengals, and the Bills win out, they will both be 7-5 in-conference, I think.

Yea, sorry, that tie breaker basically goes hand in hand with the common opponents so I just skipped it.

Looking at the schedules for Buffalo, Pittsburgh, KC, and the Jets, I think the Bills best (and semi-realistic) bet is to finish out the year 3-1 with a win over the Jets to get the tie-breaker over them, and then hope Pittsburgh goes 2-2 (which I think is possible). Kansas City seems to have the easiest path to get in. I think that would be enough for Buffalo to squeak in?

As long as one of those losses is to Cinci, I think that works. Also the Jets would have to lose one before we play them to stay one game behind them with a loss.

Regarding Pitt, the reason they need to lose to Cinci is because of the common opponents thing, right? And yeah, I guess I'm working off the assumption that the Patriots beat the Jets as well, but they've looked mortal the last two weeks. Honestly, I think the Jets and Bills are average enough that both teams can lose to any of the remaining opponents left on their roster, especially with Fitzpatrick leading the Jets and just complete inconsistency leading the Bills.

I don't see the KC scenario coming to fruition. I know anything can happen but that seems to be a pretty easy path for them.

As bad as Rex has been, Roman was the worse hire.

The NFL is tight and arguably the only importance an OC has these days is having a cogent, effective two-minute offense for the end of the half and game.

And this guy just doesn't have it.

Start a series with three plays called? Why would you.

At a minimum this clown needs to go. Classic case of a guy who has no pass plays that are not 2 yards or 42 yards

I'm gonna be honest; I'm not really all that upset about the loss. It was just kind of a blah game. Defense did fine. Offense did fine. The muffed punt, penalties, and Tyrod simply not really having the mental part of the game yet did Buffalo in. I think I'd rather keep the status quo and go into next season with roughly the same staff/front office in place and just try to improve the right side of the offensive line through the draft/free agency.

The team is severely undisciplined, a chronic symptom of Rex Ryan teams. It's cost them games this year.

Pats haven't had Edelman, Gronkowski, Hightower, Collins all active together since week 7.

I agree the Pats aren't scary now but they have Brady and 2 of those guys played yesterday. Get Edelman, Gronk, Amendola all together on offense. Get Hightower/Collins at LB and their D becomes top 5.

Denver hasn't been killed by injuries like NE has. Pittsburgh is the only AFC team that is scary. Brown/Weeden/Bryant are dangerous with a QB who can throw.

Denver offense has been mediocre all year long. To beat NE you gotta score points. As I told you during the NE-Denver with the weapons NE had that game which was basically LaFell/Gronk the fact NE controlled that game was amazing and I don't expect a muffed punt and the Pats to go into ultra-conservative mode if they play again.

If you tell me the Pats have to play @Denver in the AFC title game or at home versus Pittsburgh. I would take at Denver every single time. The reason if the Pats have those 4 guys above and Brady I believe beating Denver is way easier. Hightower/Collins would be great at stopping the run. Having more than Gronk and the guy who drops atleast 1 pass a week LaFell I think the Pats would score mid-20s atleast.

2 years ago Denver was the better team. They led like 24-0 at halftme at NE. NE came back and won in OT. I never thought NE was as good as Denver and that the weather gave them the advantage to equalize the game.

In the AFC title game in Denver when I saw the weather was sunny and mid 50's I knew NE was screwed. Denver won the game because they were the better team.

This year the Pats were killed by injuries in that game no Edelman/Amendola/Collins. Hightower got hurt and their run D wasn't good. Denver came back and won in OT. However I never thought Denver was better than NE just like 2 years ago I never thought NE was better than Denver even though they came back and won their game at home in OT.

If the Pats-Broncos play in the playoffs and Amendola/Edelman/Collins/Hightower play I have no doubts barring unforeseen events like special teams TD/def TDs that NE would beat Denver this year. I think the NE roster is better with the guys injured being back. I don't know the major injuries Denver has outside of Ward and Manning but I am sure you do. I don't think they are as drastic as NE's right now.

You should feel optimistic you are a fan like me. I am just telling you honestly I think Pittsburgh is the best team in the AFC right now because right now they are healthier and in more of a groove than anybody.
