Charlie Partridge has been dismissed as Florida Atlantic head coach, CoachingSearch has confirmed. ESPN West Palm first reported the news.

Partridge went 9-27 in three seasons, posting a 3-9 record every year. The offense improved under first-year coordinator Travis Trickett this season, despite heavy injuries to the offensive line, but the defense dropped 40 spots in scoring defense. They lost four games by six points or fewer.

“I want to thank Charlie Partridge for putting his heart and soul into Florida Atlantic University for the past three years,” AD Pat Chun said in a release. “He led our program with integrity and character. Most importantly, he impacted the lives of our student-athletes and that will have a lasting effect.”

Partridge worked under Bret Bielema at Wisconsin and Arkansas from 2008-13, coaching the defensive line. He previously coached at Pitt from 2003-07.

FAU’s program is just over a decade old. It hasn’t posted a winning record since 2008 under Howard Schnellenberger. The program has a new stadium, and an indoor practice facility is in the works. It’s a job that will have a lot of interest in the coming weeks.
