The Huskies were dead last nationally in scoring at 14.8 points per game. They scored two touchdowns in their final four-and-a-half games. Offensive coordinator Frank Verducci was demoted late in the season and will move to a non-coaching role. Diaco now will look for a new OC.

“The offensive production of our football team in 2016 was far below the standards that any of us expect it to be,” Diaco said in the release. “This is a very important decision for the future of our football program and we will bring to our team an individual who can make an immediate impact as we continue to build the program.”

The release also stated this, which wasn’t a quote: “Evaluations of each member of the UConn coaching staff will take place in the coming weeks by head coach Bob Diaco.”
