This issue with drops is really concerning, was mentioned prominently in the syracuse.com article today and keeps popping up. We have to get that cleared up or look to give some of the young gusy a shot with the starters. Good news about Lutz, was high on him from when he committed, think he can/will crack the two deep this season. Perfect slot guy.

With that in mind, I looked for guys pushing through maintaining some bounce to their step in warm ups, it’s a minor detail but suggests mental toughness. On that note—OU transfer, Abdul Adams and FR Jarveon Howard fit the bill.

Howard is a tank btw, very impressive physical stature for a freshman. He was light on his toes during ladder drills and delivers a strike working bags.

O-Line was interesting, cavanaugh widened the line, he wanted his guys to step through, I’ll RT a video, but the drill exposed which linemen could or couldn’t reach their gap assignment in a fluid step, I thought Aaron Roberts and Airon Servais were the most effective but Cavanaugh’s reaction suggested no one was up to standard.

On defense, pursuit drill was in effect. A wrinkle was added asking the D-Line to step into an inside gap & then flatten out, pursuing an outside run angle. Josh Black looked good. He’s had a great spring and fall camp from what I’ve seen and heard. Breakout candidate in my book.

Outside of Custis and Butler, I believe all receivers are Babers guys. He better have some who can catch a ball

I played ball through college (on D), but my experience is that drops are contagious in a receiving group. Gets passed around like a cold. Sure there are always guys who have stone hands, but the majority of them should come around (please God, I hope so).

I think we do but my concern is that the guy or guys who may end up breaking into the starting lineup or second line might not do so until were a quarter or more into the season. I share the same concern at LB. Thats my main worry for WMU, in that the staff decides to go with the veteran guys if its close based on experience etc and FSU or later we see the younger guys overtake them. I don't think its inconceviable that the starters at WR and LB save for maybe Butler for WMU could be completely different by say the UNC game. The young WR's especially seem like they have a higher upside once they catch up ie Lutz, Q, Hendrix. etc
