2019 Yankees Thread...

Even with the hiccup, German is throwing like a plus starter these days, or at least getting plus starter results.

Not expecting that to hold over the whole season, but man, that's a story getting lost a little bit amid the injuries. Dude has stepped up.

Agreed. And the guys on MLB Tonight were blowing a little sunshine toward Cashman for having so many players available to come up and step right in.

Some of these pitches that the Yanks are crushing have to be mistakes by the pitcher. Sanchez' last homer was on a ball basically over the middle of the plate just below belt level and only 89 mph. How did any pitcher think he could sneak that one by a major leaguer? It's amazing to see the bad placement in the strike zone of these things.

Arizona is supposed to be tanking but they are over .500

Very likely just a bad pitch.

That said, in this time of such high K numbers, I wonder sometimes if pitchers are a little less afraid to groove one thinking they can get it by a guy looking for a specific pitch or trying to work a count.

Watch how many times the catcher sets up one way or another, and how rarely the average pitcher hits the glove. The problem today is the same as when I was a kid: there's never been enough good pitching to go around. But that's probably a good thing, because fans won't pay $250 a pop to watch 1-0 games for very long.

Things are about to get A LOT tougher for the Bombers. To date, they've played exactly one team that is over .500 and got swept.

The only thing that torques me off more than "looking for a pitch" is lefties refusing to hit toward third to kill the shift once and for all.

Maybe yes. Maybe no. Yankees were under .500 themselves for the first 3 weeks of the season.
