You slept?I don't believe so, I think that's just the RIU next door. But like I said, 5 minute work to the action.
We arrived 3 or 4 days before the tourny started. I spent a good portion of that time at the RIU. Once the games started tho, I only left Atlantis to sleep
Are we in any 2020 preseason tourneys?
Is that just a one game tourney or is it like the nit?Gotham Classic at MSG.
One game vs LSUIs that just a one game tourney or is it like the nit?
If you’re going with kids don’t stay at the Cove it’s the most expensive and nicest tower but has adults only pool with black jack tables and DJ by pool. Great for adults but not worth the $ if you’re going with kids.I have never been and I'm noticing there a number of hotels there at the Atlantis. Coral, Reef and Cove for example. I will be with my wife and 2 kids. They will be 7 and 3. Is one place more family friendly than another and where will most of the fans and team be? Or does it matter.
Thanks. I think I will do Royal. If you’re going with kids don’t stay at the Cove it’s the most expensive and nicest tower but has adults only pool with black jack tables and DJ by pool. Great for adults but not worth the $ if you’re going with kids.
If price isn’t an issue I’d stay at Royal tower with kids. Royal tower is closest to pools and kids activities but is more expensive than Coral or Beach towers. Beach tower is least expensive but really far from pool/slides for kids. Coral tower is in the middle of beach/royal but still kind of far for kids to get to pools/slides.
Royal tower west is closest to kids activities including kids club where you can leave kids at night.
Yes... the food is pricey and not all that good. We paid about $25 for a pizza that was worse than any frozen pizza I’ve ever had. There was a deli type restaurant that was manageable price wise and food was not bad. After reading a lot before we went, we took advice from a board and packed and checked a suitcase with granola bars, nuts etc and literally lived on that all week.Is it true that The Atlantis has just insane price gouging for things like pizza and bottled water? My boss went last year, and she said she always expects marked up costs on vacation, but it was like nothing she has ever experienced before there.
No, but you can purchase food plans.I thought there was a side of it that was all-inclusive?
Yes, you cannot get into anything besides the casino. Cant even get wifi unless you pay. you basically walk around with your wallet hanging out.Is it true that The Atlantis has just insane price gouging for things like pizza and bottled water? I've never been to the Bahamas. Is it realistic to attend this tournament but not stay at the Atlantis? It seems like everyone I know who stays at the Atlantis leaves feeling like they were shaken down by the Mob with how much everything costs.
More on that - So last trip I had a room at Atlantis, then my my brother, his GF and my GF all decided they wanted to join, after months of telling me they weren't coming. They wanted to stay at the RIU, so we grabbed rooms there as well (was not happy about the whole situation lol). It actually worked out a little, even though we were staying at the RIU, my room at Atlantis gave us wrist bands for the week, so we had access to everything on the Atlantis property.
Not many cuse fans at the RUI, so even though we had free drinks there, I spent the majority of my time/money at a lobby bar at Atlantis with a couple hundred other cuse fans. We spend pre and post game at the coral lobby bar. No special pass was needed, but a vodka redbull was $24.
Some folks I met, who were also staying at RIU had trouble getting into some of the clubs by the casino, I think only on the weekend tho.
This trip, we're talking about renting one of the townhouses in the Marina, (part of Atlantis property) since I think we're bringing the whole crew. If we end up with a smaller group, they're probably going to try to talk me into staying at the RIU. I would do that under the following circumstances-
1. I knew for a fact that there was a large group of SU fans staying there as well
2. We bought Atlantis passes for at least half the day's we're there.
Literally all the action was at Atlantis. Players and coaches everywhere, media everywhere, Orange everywhere. As soon as you walked a couple hundred feet to the RIU it was like you were just on a regular vacation. Would hardly even know there was a tournament going on next door.

Still haven't changed my avatar photo
So, I did the RIU last time with a group of 6 and planning on the same thing again. Can't recommend it enough- so worth it. The place was absolutely packed with college BBall fans, and a large crew of CUSE fans. Had an awesome time- for us, all-inclusive food and drink was the way to go. I think we paid $1400 a person which included flights/room/food/drink/tickets. We walked to Atlantis several times and bought some passes for a day or two. Having said that, if you can afford Atlantis and all that comes with it (food&drink prices), by all means go for it, the place is a paradise!
Tickets- Don't worry about it. Not a bad seat in the place. We got ours directly through the hotel and had different locations for all three games. All great, no need to stress about it. Took us a mere 4-5 mins to walk next door.
Either place you stay, will be an awesome time. Let's pack the place Orange again!

I saw the RIU is adults only. Or so it says. My kid will have turned 18 a few months before, so that's not a problem, but how "adults only" is it? We talking nude beaches or just a bunch of folks who don't want to hear shrieking kids? There's a RIU (all inclusive) right next door to Atlantis. 5 minute walk to the arena. You would have access to the Atlantis casino, but would need a special pass for the waterpark, and some bars/restaurants

And yes, we are thinking about going.
I can't believe he is that old. Last time you were in Seattle I felt like he was in middle school. Time flysI saw the RIU is adults only. Or so it says. It says adults only on the website. I think it is designed for people who don't want to deal with kids.I mean, if I saw anything remotely close to "adults only" I might have spent a little more time there haha. I'll have to ask S. She probably remembers a touch more than I do
Same here...we now need to determine if it will be a family vacation or some other variation. Thanks to everyone for all the info already in this thread. Missed out in 2015 but got the verbal commitment from my wife last night that she is in for 2021!
