A draft of a scheduling document by the ACC athletic director/head football coach subcommittee says planned opponents for 2021 and beyond will need to be revised to ensure two schools do not play three consecutive years at the same site.

That means changes are coming to SU’s 2021 schedule. Syracuse will play at Boston College next year, after hosting the Eagles in 2019 and 2020. The same deal applies to Wake Forest.

That also means Syracuse won’t play at Louisville next season, as originally scheduled, after the Orange traveled to Kentucky each of the past two seasons.

More changes to the conference schedule are expected. SU was once scheduled to host Florida State in 2020 and travel there in 2021 before the coronavirus sent the ACC football schedule into the blender last summer.

Having Syracuse travel to Florida State next season would give the Orange five conference road games, assuming the scheduled crossover game at Virginia Tech remains in place. The league won’t do that.

Playing the FSU game in Syracuse, however, keeps SU’s conference schedule at a four-game, home-and-away split. And Florida State wouldn’t have to give up a seventh home game because its matchup with Wake Forest could be bumped to Tallahassee, assuming those two meet as expected on Dec. 19 at Wake Forest.

Of course, this all can be thrown into disarray if the ACC sticks with a one-division format with a new commissioner set to come onboard next year.

I thought the division format was going to be in place for one or two more seasons.

Things would also change if ND decides to join the ACC full time for football. If that happens, I assume it would be an immediate thing.

Even if ND joins, I doubt we would be scheduled to play them in 2021. The schools that played them in 2020 would surely be put at the end of the list, and since we are already scheduled to play them in 2022, if we also played them in 2021, we would play them 3 years in a row. Though they might move out game with them in 2021 out if they had to.

Let’s assume we do not play ND then. If the changes listed in the article happen, which seems really likely, this is what we are looking at:

2021 possible schedule:

Saturday September 4that Ohio
Saturday September 11thRUTGERS
Saturday, September 19thSUNY ALBANY
Saturday, September 25thLIBERTY
TBDLOUISVILLE
TBDFLORIDA ST
TBDat Wake Forest
TBDCLEMSON
TBDat North Carolina State
TBDat Virginia Tech
TBDPITTSBURGH
Saturday, November 27th?at Boston College

This is a lot easier schedule than we played this season, though it might be harder than what our original 2020 schedule was.

No ND, no UNC, no Miami. Clemson at home. Much more reasonable. A bowl game is definitely possible.

Syracuse should average 6.5 home games a year.
I say 6.5 because 4 home conference games and 4 road conference games each year.
Then the 4 nonconference games.
We can only buy the FCS game each year.

That makes 5 home and 4 road gamesz
With the remaining 3 nonconference games unless we find 2-1s we are going to play home/home deals.

That means 1.5 home games. One year 2 H/1 A the following year 1 H/2A

The UConn deal shouldn’t have been 2-2. That was bad negotiating.

We will never play 7 home games and 5 away games. Never happen.

Really odd assertion given that it's relatively simple to check before you post. We will have 4 conference games every year and will look to schedule 3 of the four OOC games at home. Things can certainly change but as of now we have guarantees for 7 home games in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2025 (assuming unscheduled games are FCS).
