He isn’t even exactly Gary Sanchez either
 
Just a nightmare of a season.Aaron Boone is no more than a robot on the bench.Either this guy is being told how to use the pitching staff or he has absolutely no feel for the game as it is unfolding.
Cessa throws five pitches and dominates the inning, but instead of bringing him back to close the game he brings a guy that just can’t close.
You could just feel it as soon as he he made the move to Green that this wasn’t going to turn out good. I think O’Neil even mentioned it during the broadcast about letting Cessa come back for the ninth.

Speaking of Sanchez, any reason not to give him 4 at bats last night? Assuming he has tonight off with Cole pitching.

Higgy usually catches Cole and is unavailable. My guess is they wanted Brantley against the righty last night and Gary against the lefty tonight. Not saying I don't agree with you, guessing what their thinking was. Been doing tons of that lately!!

This is what I hate about the modern bullpen approach. I know you planned for Green in the 9th by not pitching him the prior night. Cessa had the definition of a low stress 8th innning. Ride the hot hand and let Luis start the 9th with Green ready to assist.

This where Stanton's limitations kill them. On a day like this Stanton should play OF and Gary DH.

Agreed, and good call with letting Cessa start with Green ready to come in if needed.

The plan is for him to be available in the outfield soon. We'll see.
 
Boone sitting on his duff while a melting down Kriske choked up the season was just disgraceful. Sorry but Boone is not a leader. You have to make a move, any move, and get that kid off the mound. No anticipation by Boone to have someone throwing from the start of the inning in anticipation. Wilson, Abreau either would have been better than Kriske. And this nonsense that guys who haven't thrown 50 pitches in the last month couldn't throw to 3 batters each last night with the season on the line is just ridiculous. No other team takes this rest management to the extreme the Yankees do.

The three batter rule is why they couldn’t take that pitcher out.
Boone couldn’t have done anything the only thing he made a mistake was actually bringing him in to start with. Blame Chapman for sucking that’s why he couldn’t bring him in.

Chapman wasn’t going to pitch 3 days in a row, but the mistake was not letting a dominant looking Cessa pitch the ninth after a 5 pitch 8th.

Blame no off nights. Chapman can’t pitch every night. He’s been better lately.
