Judgement Day

"Is it going to be enough?" It landed in the raised seating area 15 or 20 feet from the wall, you dumbazz.

Now you know why I watch any sports on Fox with the sound and captions turned off.

Judge has been great
He has had an excellent year. But you're only as good as your last game or your last at bat or last pitch these days, so there's still plenty of time for him to fall from grace.

Only 2 career Sac Flies for Joey Gallo.

How is that even possible?

Just Fox? You listen to ARod on ESPN? Brutal.

Many of his fly balls go over the fence.

I was just looking at his career stats.

He has 1555 career outs before today. A ridiculous 863 of them are via strikeout. But that still leaves 692 other outs where he actually put the ball in play. And based on some quick math based on his career batted ball fly ball % of 35.3% (per baseball reference) he would have approximately 235 career fly outs.

It's not really an indictment against Gallo per so. But the probability of only have 1 of 235 career flyball outs turn into a sacrifice fly is really hard to believe.

Yeah, I think it’s just an anomaly. It would be helpful to know how many opportunities he has had.

He had also only grounded into six double plays coming into this season. That seems low, although he is picking up the pace this season.

I edited my post above. But I overlooked his non home run extra base hits.. I now calculate approximately 148 fly ball outs.

This was based on the following per baseball reference:
1958 career at bats and 863K's.
That leaves 1095 career balls put in play
35.3% fly ball percentage
That means he has hit 387 career fly balls, and 152 of those were homers. So that leaves 235.

Then we have 87 other extra base hits... some of those might be in his line drive %, but lets assume those are all fly balls. That makes it 148 outs.

Fan-favorites for both teams are coming through tonight: Stanton, Gallo, Lindor, and Conforto.

I rarely watch baseball before the playoffs. I'll keep him in mind and the mute button handy if they have any games.
