The interesting thing about that game last night was the back-to-back sloppy plays to first base.
In one instance Franco didn’t hustle down the line despite Green’s struggles to field the ball leading to the subsequent struggles by Bruce catching the throw cleanly. If he hustles that out then he’s safe and O’s have runners at the corners w one out.
Then Severino hits a fairly routine ground ball to Torres at short but he absolutely busts his azz down the line so as Torres is routinely gathering and loading his eyes see Severino much further down the line than he expected so he rushes the throw, deviating from routine, and puts it in the dirt. Instead of inning over and no runs on the board, O’s post a run that keeps them in the game because of the run the Yankees score in the bottom of the inning.
Bottom line - run 90 ft as fast as you can when you’re in extra innings. It’s not that much to ask.
