[QUOTE="sutomcat, post: 4313148, member: 27"] Tough call on how to deal with Escobar. By all accounts he is terrific in the clubhouse. Mets management has reportedly tried hard to build a positive culture by adding guys who are great teammates. Benching Escobar might affect this. I thought he was roughly average defensively this year but advanced metrics say he has been really poor. He was worse than bad hitting in the first half. I don't think I have ever seen a Met fail so many times to score a runner from 3rd with less than 2 outs. He has shown signs of improvement in recent weeks. Thought I think it is mostly a reflection of the Mets facing more lefthanded starting pitches recently. He is a much better hitter batting right handed than left handed (.261 BA vs .200). If they do bench Escobar against right handed pitchers, I would seriously consider playing McNeil at 3B and Guillorme at 2B. I hope the bigger moves involve getting a couple of reliable relief pitchers. Preferably one righty and one lefty. They could use a right handed bat too. Sounds like it might be Vientos. If the Mets can convert Dom Smith and JD Davis into 2 good relievers, I will be pretty happy. Even though I think both will do well elsewhere. Here is video of Alvarez' game hitting walk off HR last night. It was way up in the air, and if you look close, you can see it bounce off the light tower up high. Gotta be over 400 feet. He has a compact swing. Amazing how much power he can deliver with it. Reminds me of Bob Horner.
