Mets re-sign Adam Ottovino to a 2 year contract. https://nypost.com/2022/12/20/adam-ottavino-sticks-with-mets-on-two-year-deal/ That probably does it for the bullpen. Diaz Robertson Ottovino Raley Smith Is a darned good back end. I think it is an improvement over the bullpen last year. We really didn't have anyone reliable in the bullpen except Diaz and Ottovino. Both are back, Robertson would appear to be a difference maker and Raley should be an upgrade over Rodriquez. I think the rest of the bullpen should be better too. Greene, Curtis, Ridings, Brigham, Hernandez, Nogosek, de Oca and Woods all have promise and are, I think a grade above most of what we had to fill out our bullpen last year. One of Megill or Peterson will probably also work out of the bullpen too. Scherzer Verlander Carrasco Quintana Senga Megill and Peterson as the 6th and 7th starters I would say this is a little better rotation than last year. Quintana replaces Bassitt. Quintana had a better year last season but Bassitt has been more consistent. Close to a push there. Senga replaces Walker. Walker has been really good in the first half of seasons and bad in the second half. Overall okay. Guessing Senga will be similar to Tijuan but he is a big unknown and could end up a big mistake. If so, or if anyone gets hurt, we have Megill and Peterson to fill in. Our 6th and 7th starters are really good and we will likely dip into that depth at times during the season. Biggest difference to me is that Verlander is likely to throw a lot more innings than deGrom did and be more effective as well. deGrom missed most of the year, and wasn't his normal dominating self last season. Really got hit hard his last time through the lineup. When he was out, Megill and Peterson had good and bad moments. I think Justin is going to be more solid here. Offensively, so far we have the same team, except Vogelbach will be on the team all year long and Ruf has replaced JD Davis. Will Baty take over at 3B? If so, will he be an upgrade on offense? Will Alvarez take over at C? Will he take over as the right handed hitting DH? He can't hit much worse than Ruf or McCann/Nido. I would say the offense is slightly better right now but I think we need someone else to play OF (only the starters and Jeff McNeil right now). That person would ideally be able to play all OF positions, and would ideally be a right handed power hitter. Let's see if it happens.
